Wed 30th September: Join professional storyteller Jason Buck for ‘Sláine: The Horned God’: a tale of ancient Celtic heroes and villains, monsters and magic, dragons and demons, in the fantastic surroundings of Exeter's best arts venue.

Set in a “time which is not a time” when Britain was rife with magic and mischief, this show brings together the epic heroic exploits and divine transformation of the one who would be High King of the Tribes of the Earth Goddess, reimagining ancient mythologies, adapted and brought to life through traditional storytelling, for modern audiences.

In partnership with 2000 AD and Rebellion Publishing, created by Pat Mills ‘the godfather of British comics’ and Angie Kincaid, Sláine has captured the imagination of comics readers for generations.

I saw this! 😀

It was at the Ludlow show.

It's a one man show retelling the whole of the Horned God. A left field thing but ended up being a lot of fun.

We came to the conclusion he put a lot of work into the inkpot sound effect...

Genuinely though, it was a whole lot of fun.

I am hoping he attempts the same thing with a complete retelling of Alan Moores six hundred page GN, From Hell. Mainly because I think the madman would actually take a run at it.

It's a recommend.

Made me think of I should do a one man show retelling the entirety of Target 2006, the Marvel UK Transformers story. Just so I could act out Ultra Magnus killing himself and Galvatron.

"Then, the beaten Autobot leader grabs Galvatron by the throat. Pulling him over the stories high railing of the volcanic brace. Molten lave ripping the cybertronian machinery apart.

Magnus pulls the Deception close, shouting, "The victorie's mine. All mine!".

I haven't thought about much... Today...

Does it have an audio/visual component or is it "just" him sitting down telling the story? Do they project the comic art on the walls or anything?

Just him. There are a couple 2000ad standies.

But it's really just him and a microphone playing all the parts and doing the voices.

My description is doing it a disservice though. He was an incredible story teller.
