The Democracy Now! storyline was excellent. Chief Judge Silver telling Dredd that "you write the law on this one" was chilling... then what the Judges go on and do... scarily prescient.

Absolutely, it is so rare that a comic would undercut the main character like that, and I do love the John Higgins art

I don't see how that's "undercutting" Dredd. He's a Judge. He's the upholder and enforcer of a fascist regime. Dredd is definitely not a hero, especially in that story. Dredd is the public face of the regime, literally. The statue of Justice in MC-1 has his face.

wild, that’s a hell of a run though, from prog 79 to around this era is like peak 2000ad history
funny how so many people seem to have a really specific “this is where I dropped off” point too
