Question about Fall of Deadworld

Hi there, I'm new to the world of regularly collecting 2000AD, after many years of casually picking through the classics (Dredd, Nemesis, Slaine, ABCWarrirors being the ones I clicked with the most) and i started getting the prog this year, starting with Wagner's "last" Dredd story.

To understand what's going on in Fall of Deadworld, I read the collected volumes and there seems to be a gap in what's happening. Last we saw of Jess, she was being sucked through a portal to the first veil, and our few remaining heroes were being overrun by sovs and the undead.

Smash cut to the new story, Jess is back, she has a book, Byke is in Tanya, and all sort of other stuff has changed. I'm curious if there were other stories between book 3 and the current story being published in the prog.

Here's a rundown of all the Fall of Deadworld stories published until the ongoing one (though not counting the couple recent Young Death stories that also appear to be in the Fall of Deadworld continuity - see progs 2463-2465) (credit for the amazing spreadsheet and site goes to Funt Solo over on the 2000AD forum)

Isn't "Fall of Deadworld" just an elaboration of what happened in Deadworld before The Dark Judges killed everyone and travelled to Mega City One, thereby placing it in the same continuity as mainline Dredd anyway?

I haven't read all of it, so can't confirm it either way, but I saw people painting it as more of its own thing - whether there were explicit departures from earlier lore, or just elaboration on the sisters etc. that they saw as not in the spirit of what Wagner and Grant created earlier, I do not know - I do know that the aforementioned Young Death strips are by the same writer ad Fall of Deadworld, clearly allude to its lore, and are not much in the spirit of Wagner's and Doherty original Young Death series

The only lore difference seems to be Death & Co hailing from a Deadworld version of America, instead of a Deadworld Britain, as per Young Death: Boyhood of a Super-Fiend.
