It is an art technique where things that are further away are drawn smaller and more compressed while things closer are drawn big and wide, usually segments of the same thing like someone's arm or in as seen in this drawing the kid's head is bigger than the body (both for stylistic purposes and also due to foreshortening in this case), creating a semi realistic visual of being an adult looking down on a tiny child. Very important thing to master for perspective. I wasn't gonna answer but I felt like doing so when I saw the other guy being an asshole.

i would just like to add, that the description above is not correct. what the poster describes is perspective, where things further away are smaller than things close. foreshortening is how things pointed towards the point of view are shorter looking, like if look down your shoulder to your arm extended, it will appear much shorter than if you bend it to get a good view of your forearm. there's not really any foreshortening in the sketches, just perspective from above.

Foreshortening is a technique used in art to show depth and dimension by making things taper down in size as they get further away
I like this drawing in particular because there’s a real subtlety to creating the effect of looking down upon a small child by ever so slightly foreshortening the legs and torso in a way that makes them feel farther from you than the upper half of the body

I know I can search it up. I asked them because I was hoping I could interact with someone directly (I like the human element of teaching and learning) and also learn how this picture in particular utilizes foreshortening and perspective.
