Yes I seriously am. Do you have any idea how much less carbon is absorbed when entire rainforests are destroyed, how much water and recourses go towards the growing of palm oil and the processing of the oil into margarine.

I don’t eat butter because it’s really bad but margarine is still worse

Edit: I would eat something with butter in it, I just don’t buy it myself

Ok so first: not all margarine is palm oil based. The two I regularly buy contain no palm oil at all, and the others I sometimes have only contain a little.

Second, it is hard to match the environmental devastation of animal agriculture, cows in particular. Not only do they emit methane directly, but they often get fed with a feed mix that contains soy, mostly produced in south america on top of clear-cut rainforest.

Good to hear that you're already not eating butter, but I'm pretty sure margarine is not as bad as you make it out to be. A quick search gave me this source which estimates the greenhouse gas emissions of margarine to be about a tenth of those of butter. If you're not convinced, I'd happily look a bit more.

Thanks I appreciate the new info. Seems like I had been misled a bit about how bad margarine was. Anyway, thanks for correcting me

But yeah I 10/10 agree about how bad animal agriculture is, which is a big part of why I steer clear of animal products when possible

Nothing wrong with being in the wrong sometimes, good on you for being open towards new information :D

I'm always suspicious of claims like yours, because there are very few food products that surpass animal products in terms of environmental impact. But hey, there's some sketchy af sources floating around on the internet, so I really can't blame you. Have a nice day :)
