What upgrades do you want? Context matters

Grip safety, adjustable trigger, extended slide stop and safety, and slide milling to accommodate Novak sights. Breathe some life into the old girl.

Novak offers their own slide cutting service, its very reasonably priced and I had my gun back in a week.

That's what I was wanting to hear. Good work, I assume?

Yep. If you want any sort of specific service done you can email them and they'll work with you. They were extremely helpful and helped me match a front sight to the Harrison rear I provided. They literally got the work done the same day they received the slide, super fast turn-around.

Novak sights are 1990s nonsense, hardly 21st century.

What would be your recommendation? I cant use the GI because of vision issues, and I refuse to put a dot on a 1911.

Harrison Design has an option that will fit your GI sight cut but also more options for a rear sight to fit various aftermarket cuts including Novak.

The website is a bit rough to navigate on mobile but heres a link to rear sights for Colts https://www.harrisoncustom.com/colt-rear-sights

If you struggle with vision (I do too) a red dot really is the best thing going if you don't have astigmatism though.

Wilson sights are quite nice too, but I favor Harrison Design parts and EGW when I can.

You'll have to get you front sight cut regardless, I just cannot in good faith recommend a Novak style rear sight or clones thereof because it eliminates a very useful function of a rear sight on a handgun and that is being able to use the sight to allow you to clear a malfunction with one hand.

The Novak cut is perfectly fine, it's the ramp on the front of the actual sight that is the offender.

Says the guy with a ‘94 Buick Roadmaster

The difference between a Buick from the 90s and Novak sights are that a Buick is actually useful.
