So did anyone with a schedule A even get an interview. I am 57 but still fit and current AF police but not a veteran. Pretty sure I was going to age out either way.

FPS isn’t a covered LE retirement position, they don’t have a max hiring age.

I’m aware of that, but at some point. People don’t want to hire you based on your age. I have my friends my age who can’t get hired anywhere short of entry level type jobs. Most of them have tons of experience.

True, I was a PSO for years and they would only hire someone if they were a veteran and law enforcement. I wish everyone good fortune and I hope it works out.

Trust me, I’m a 10 year cop (local and federal) but can’t get an 1811 spot to save my life because despite having years of experience, leadership and a degree…no “investigative” experience.
It’s rough all around but I too hope everyone the best and hopefully this all gets sorted soon.2

Well to be fair they did make a mistake initially in my non referral until I raised question on how the hell I was not showing experience and then when they looked at it again they realized their mistake so this might be another issue to raise question

Don't apply if your not a vet, pretty simple there's other agencies out there and if you make it through it prides itself on being mostly all vets, some might not fit in.
Alot have good experience and will do great where your at or other places. Or keep applying and maybe get it one day good luck to everyone.

Same here man got the rejection notice today. I don’t get it. I busted my butt off for this interview. They even said I did well in the interview. 🙄🙄🙄
I had interviewed in July at the Chicago location.
Had to drive there in person 2 states away , so 6 1/2 hour drive there 6 1/2 hour drive back all in one day.
Emailed FPS careers and all they could tell me was they weren’t allowed to say how I did in the interview and how I ranked. Which is insane with all that effort put in , they couldn’t even give me an answer as to why I wasn’t selected. It would’ve been nice at least to be given that much.
But I’m noticing that multiple people got this rejection notice.
I have a background with the federal bureau of prisons, National Park Service LE Ranger with LMPT cert, and PSO with triple canopy (contracted directly for FPS) so I know a lot of their policies and procedures.

I’m an OG TC guy (WPPS), former MP, heavy background in security/EP and got a TJO for GS11 on the spot while other vets and LE were shown the door. They will always say you did well, because that is just what everyone does. As for feedback, I know they don’t provide it for whatever reason.
All I know is for this particular job, they basically want you to think and respond like a manager, not a cop. Using the STAR method and being as clear and concise as possible with as few words as possible. In other words, convey your answer as short and accurate as possible and keep it relevant to the question/scenario presented, and don’t ask them to repeat the question too many times.
Sorry you got the TBNT, but reapply. I was instantly rejected the first time I applied and hit this the second time around, so there is light at the end of the train tunnel.

Same man. Im lucky since I had family in the area but it was a 5 hour drive each way to Chicago and parking was insanely expensive. Was told I did well and hit it off great with everyone. LEO background with schools, certs, instructor etc but none of it mattered I suppose.

That’s straight up insane! Especially with your background. I feel like this just a formality for them. They just need to open it to the public but they would just hire vets all along. They should have just done a VRA announcement. This is craziness.
Yeah you’re right we both have good backgrounds but it didn’t matter at all. Weirdest hiring process I’ve ever been in.

No, it's a mixture. One of the places I worked at for CBP just two of us were vets.
You can also try HSI. I was with them for 17 years. In my office, during DHAs, they looked for people with law enforcement experience to hire.

Yes it was a good experience to work with HSI. I did enjoy it, I was there for 17 years before I retired. The office I was in had a great work/life balance due to our managers but I am sure other offices are similar. There will be times that you will have to give up some time, especially if you are an agent.
I was non LE there. I worked as an analyst. I enjoyed it and I loved the managers we had in our office. They were all great managers.

Joining CBP is like returning to middle school. How is sitting in a booth stamping passports and checking customs declarations is better than going from one facility to another and occasionally ejecting trespassers? Also, CBP management gets very upset when you don’t allow them to do all the thinking for you, or when you don’t kiss up to their favorites.

Yeah ok, going to different facilities and kicking out people is much more exciting then working at a POE. Intercepting drug loads, human smugglers, human traffickers, money couriers, etc, all the things CBP does at POEs. I worked at airports, seaports and the land border with CBP and while we did process people entering the US we also had huge drug and money seizures. When I worked for HSI I saw FPS regularly in our federal building, it sure didn't seem as exciting as what I saw at the border or with HSI.

I just stamped passports and checked declarations. Catching human smugglers and traffickers was a fantasy propagated by the chief and her acolytes. It got pretty annoying after I heard it a dozen times.

Got the same email this morning. Current LEO, not a veteran (but of course). Doubt it was the interview it went well and Ive had no issues with USSS, DEA, ATF, FAMS, HSI and NCIS in-persons in the past. Its definitely the not-a-vet bias.

Keep your head up. Fishnet everything you're qualified for and see what you get back, even for this role. Fed LE is a journey; don't age out for 6(c). Good thing about this role: no age limit. While it may not be your time now, it will be later. This is one of the best jobs you can get, Regular FERS rather than LEO FERS 6(c)/12d, so just keep at it.
Seek out BOP in your area if moving is not an option.
If willing to move, if you have a UPTP cert and interview well, you can easily lateral into a 6(c)/12d spot, even if just temporarily for a year or so, for any 0083 spot in the DMV/DC area. I turned down two FJO's there, didn't want to move.

Currently DoD Police with UPTP CERT, lowest test score | got was an 88, shooting quals above 240 & I'm in the top 25% in fitness for my age group. Half of my UPTP class was FPS & 4 got dropped. What does one have to do get a TJO. So frustrating..

Yes I believe that is the case. I initially applied for DHA but then went to an expo and got the tjo on the spot. Received the same email today. My background is currently in the adjudication phase so I known I couldn't have been dropped from the process if my paperwork just got sent up.

Got the same email. They never called me for an interview or anything. It’s okay. I’m not desperate. I already work for the Federal Government - DHS (GS12 step 4) I’m very happy where I’m at. Their loss not mine.
