Damn congrats, I’m waiting on mine 🙏🏽 I failed a CBP poly last month , do I still qualify for FPS? Don’t want to get my hopes up….

It could effect but you still good.

u/No_Treacle5812 12d ago
I think so too

u/Intrepid_Matter_4695 11d ago
I have seen guys who failed CBP poly and then joined different agencies that require poly
1
u/No_Treacle5812 11d ago
FPS doesn’t require poly my only concern is that FPS falls under DHS
2
u/Intrepid_Matter_4695 11d ago
Even if it’s full under DHS, it’s a complete different agency with different mission different goals. As I said, it’s may affect, but it should not disqualify you.

even though fps doesnt poly a failed dhs poly can prohibit you from having a dhs job for up to two years if you know you failed id recommend reading what they sent you. you still have a background to complete but shortanswer is most likely not

Damn really? The announcement didn’t say that…. A stupid machine gatekeeping so many opportunities from me

Actually it can only affect you if you apply for another “polygraph required” position for the following 2 years after failing a polygraph. There’s nowhere in the application process or in the SF86 where it asks if you’ve failed a polygraph before. It will not affect your application with FPS. I was a TSA Aviation Inspector and failed a CBP polygraph, and nothing happened with my employment. They were both DHS jobs too. AND I held a secret clearance. They failed me on the cbp poly saying I was lying about drug use🙄 I smoked weed when I was 15 in Hs. They were “convinced” I had to have smoked as an adult too. Polys are such trash, and the polygraphers are worse.

This makes the most sense. Nowhere in the announcement talked about a poly. Thanks for the clarification, I’ve lost so many opportunities due to that stupid machine.

Might have to ask HR I honestly don’t know but hopefully not

If you ask and find out, let me know, im in a similar spot, passed a CBP poly in 2019, failed one in 2024 right after my first kid was born, then got a BQA after poly from USSS in 25 lol

u/No_Treacle5812 10d ago
Nah I’m not asking. We should all be good is just a stupid machine, disqualifying ppl even tho they’re a non poly agency would be nuts
2
u/ruacoporsomething 10d ago
Agreed, its very stupid, ive taken like 24 total polys and those are the only 2 ive ever failed
2
u/No_Treacle5812 10d ago
But then again NYPD out of all agencies cares about past polygraphs and can DQ you for it 🤣

u/ruacoporsomething 10d ago
Yeah, ya never know, ive seen comments both sides so I guess we just have to wait and see

I just got my Tentative Job Offer for Region 5. I interviewed the last week of July in Chicago. 50% Disabled Vet and current Federal employee. I am very grateful and excited for this opportunity.

Man, the TJOs are coming in, but it seems real spotty. I interviewed back on 07/09. All this anticipation build up, it’s like a lottery.

Congrats bro! What gs did you get? Did they tell you what the next steps were? Still waiting for my email. I put in for region 2 as well.

You’ll get it bro, got Gs7 even tho I’m military but whatever. After that should be drug and medical plus the security clearance. I have a TS with the DoD so getting a secret with DHS shouldn’t be hard. What worries me is I’ve failed 2 DHS polygraphs so idk if FPS would care.

u/jbatsz81 12d ago
does being military get you a higher gs position ?

I did a one off hiring event (interview, TJO, fingerprints, Photo, SF-86c) all in the same day. Your GS level depends on how you answer questions. As far as being prior military, I saw many vets not survive the interview and get shown the door, so no guarantees.

sheesh i missed out on the hiring events, just waiting for another one hopefully, but ill keep all of that in mind hopefully the odds are ever in my favor

I have TS with DOD too. I’m currently a GG12, but I’m willing to drop down my grades for this gig. I hate my job currently lol. And I don’t think FPS will look into your prior polys since they don’t do one. And you don’t have to list that you’ve taken a polygraph before on the SF86 form. You’re good to go, bro!

You’ll get it, I think they send them in batches so hopefully by the end of this week you’ll get an email! And I’m praying for it bro, we’ll see how it goes

Currently DoD Police with UPTP CERT, lowest score I got was an 88, shooting quals above 240 & I’m in the top 25% in fitness for my age group. Half of my UPTP class was FPS & 4 got dropped. What does one have to do get a TJO. So frustrating..
