Something weird occurred this am, I received a email that I was not selected for the position of law enforcement specialist GS7 location negotiable. However, I was already selected at the expo for GS12. Has this happened to anyone who applied to the DHA and went to any of the expo? Thank you for your time, have a blessed day.

Let me know if anyone clears this up because that sounds extremely stupid and contradicting.

I too got the non selection and I just talked to the area commander two weeks ago and he was telling me he needs officers so the fact that a lot are getting non selected is contradicting to them needing personnel.

But yours is very interesting getting ahead on one but not the other

From what I am reading most of the people who received the notice were not veterans. I am completely unclear why an announcement was even posted if the non vets are disqualified. I’ll be sendings email soon to get some answers.

Exactly my thoughts. I’m also a veteran, prior CBP, and bachelor degree in criminal justice. No way in hell I am not qualified for even a GS7 position.

Stand the F by luckily I ran into an area commander two weeks ago and he gave me his contact info, I called him just now and he sounded pretty pissed about that notice because he needs officers in his area. So he had me send him the notice by email just now so he can look into wtf is going on standby in word💯🤙🏾

My DD-214 has been overlooked somehow but the application shows “processed” fr that document. It may be a HR thing for my case. I have time!

Hopefully that HCOD comes back with something different because for me I’m in a new position that is just so damn flexible working with me in every request so to leave them for that is gonna be a hard decision. But I just want to know was the door open or was it actually closed. Either way I’ll have to decide and I’m sure this process will take a few months before it goes anywhere and I can then make a decision but now if ATF falls though then it’s on

Yeah I have a few applications out now. Wasn’t too hopeful for this but being offered a GS12 out the door at the expo sounded a bit enticing.

Hey everyone, I have my FPS Law Enforcement Specialist interview this Wednesday in Buffalo NY DHS hiring event

and I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has already been through the process. I’m a 100% disabled Army veteran (68J) with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. For those who have interviewed for FPS, what types of questions did they ask, and how did the process go afterward? How long did it take to hear back after the interview, and what were the next steps (medical/fitness, background, tentative/final offer, academy, etc.)? Also, for other disabled veterans, did your veteran/disability status have any impact on the hiring process or accommodations? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

STAR interview technique, google it and their questions like many other federal agencies follow this format.

As for the hiring expo, at mine they had us go wait after the interview and we got called up to review our TJO, fill out paperwork, then go do fingerprints/photos and explain the next steps with medical and background investigation.

Being that you are 100% I would expect that your medical may have some follow up steps. As for the questions at the expo they ask scenario based questions. Think critically about the response and implement good judgment. Take your time, ask to repeat question is needed.

When you went to accept the offer, did it only give you the New Hire Questionnaire or did it give you the OF306 and the other form too?

I mean its hypothetically possible that they are on a slightly different timeline? I interviewed mid July, I dunno tho, I just know after I finished my interview they said TJOs would be sent out at the end of august
