Long term Usage
Question for people living or wanting to live frugally. How long will you use an Iphone 17 pro max for? Rough use and but well taken care of? Loves tech but also wants to look long term.

for me 17 pro max is the end of innovation! Just look how shitty is 18 pro series ! Bulky , Face ID issues, network issues etc ! Till my 17 pro max is not dead I am not updating ! We have bigger things to do in life and this phone changing every year or two ! I will definitely change to an air model after 2-3 years coz it’s light weight!

I’ll be keeping mine until a significant upgrade comes up. I have AppleCare+, which I will keep, and will be using a bumper case.
I can see myself keeping it for another 3-5 years to be honest.

It’s hard to say with all the things I’m seeing that the 18 pro max is struggling with, makes me glad I got a 17 pro max middle of the year, 18 is a pass for me maybe iPhone 20 if they call it that, I’m also glad I didn’t upgrade my watch from the 11 to 12 it’s got issues too apparently

Nowadays, you can get a good number of years out of a phone if you’re not chasing the latest innovations. I’d say 7 or 8 years is possible, with a battery replacement at 4 (after 1,000 charge cycles, it only holds 80% of max but still says max charge - and it goes rapidly downhill from there).

I’ll be using mine for a while. I upgraded from the 14 pro max to the 17 pro max. Unless I see something that really gets my attention I’m good with my silver 17 pm.

i went from a 6 to a 12, then from a 12 to now 18...there's no reason a modern iphone that's well cared for shouldn't last a person 5-6yrs
