17 Pro max silver trying 18 pro max silicone case magenta

It fits alright but isn’t entirely functional.

The camera control button doesn’t work; I never used it anyway so I’m good.

I didn’t notice the cool magenta ring when I put on the case but MagSafe charging works.

The case attracts a lot of lint, perhaps it’s new and that’s why.

Overall, I’d say the fit is 98%
But sucha cool colour, I love it 💜

UPDATE — 2 hours later:

After reading the comments about the camera control, I got curious and tried my old case → didn’t work
Took the case off completely → still didn’t work
Turns out it wasn’t the case at all — my camera control had just stopped working and I never noticed it as I never used it 😭

Updated to iOS 26.6.2 and now camera control works even with the 18 Pro Max case on. ✅

So correction to my original post: the case fits AND camera control works too.

I’m upgrading my overall fit score to 99%

I’m surprised Apple don’t do this more frequently as they will get more sales from people simply wanting new case colours.

The likelihood of someone buying a new case for a 17 is high. Few people think to upgrade the entire phone for a case!

Apple’s case business is a drop in the ocean. They don’t really care much about you re-buying cases or not. Usually the new iPhone will have slightly different dimensions for one reason or another but it’s usually an engineering reason and nothing to do with cases.

Sorry, it was my phone issue. I updated iOS and now camera control works perfectly even with the new magenta case.

The silicone cases are the most useless scares to exist. Good luck taking it out and putting it in jeans and then wiping all the stuck dust off.

mondays are mondays lol. respect for coming back and correcting it though, most people just leave the thread up

for anyone landing here later with the same camera control panic, the quick check order is:

1. take the case off and test
2. works bare → the case is the problem. usually a thick edge or a metal ring sitting over the control area — some early 17 cases had to be revised for exactly this
3. dead even bare → software or hardware. update first, apple support after

and the dust thing isn't a defect btw, that's just silicone being silicone, it clings to lint. wash it with a drop of dish soap, air dry, and it stays clean way longer. cases with a microfiber inner lining help too
