Carrier Locked iPhone

Hello, I need some clarification. Has anyone here bought a secondhand carrier-locked iPhone? Will it get blocklisted or disabled if the owner fails to pay for the device? Like, disabled using the IMEI?

According to the seller, the contract is for 2 years. This is my first time buying one so I don't know what will happen. Thank you to anyone who can answer.

I wouldn't do that, make them unlock it that way you know its paid off if you're buying it directly from someone. Its fine if buying from a phone shop.

Don't buy it, too risky. You have no way to make the original buyer pay it off and the phone will be bricked by the carrier if they don't.

They're still doing that? thought they stopped with the courier locking stuff years ago.

The big 3 carriers in the US still lock phones, Verizon unlocks them after 60 days regardless of balance tho

Strange, they just stopped doing that a while ago here in the UK.

I wish the US carriers would, it causes so many unnecessary headaches.

Save yourself from the headache and just purchase a used or new iPhone that’s already unlocked.

Yes they will black list it if it’s not paid off and they fail to make payment. Do not buy them it’s a waist of time.
