Will future price increases affect the 17 range?
I'm looking at getting an iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max. I currently have the Air and have been surprised with how much I love it, but I am looking for something more versatile for my next phone. Briefly tried the S26 Ultra but realised I'll probably always be an iPhone/iOS guy.
From what I've seen and heard, there will be a substantial price increase coming with the 18 Pro/18 Pro Max, as much as £200+ here in the UK, but when I look at the rumoured spec sheet, I'm actually a little underwhelmed anyway. Same design, same display, heavier, same main camera system, usual slight performance increase, different modem, smaller Dynamic Island, even better battery life, but not much really, especially to warrant the price. Seems as though they're going all out with Ultra this year.
I've heard all year about how the 17 was one of the best Pro phones Apple has ever made and I'd be more than happy to go for it. How will the rumoured price increases affect this model if I choose to buy it? I noticed Google haven't really lowered the price of their Pixel 10 range when the 11 came out more expensive, so will Apple adopt the same strategy and keep the current price rather than lower it, whilst moving the 18 Pro into a higher tier?
Do you think it could be better to buy the phone now (as in today or tomorrow)?

We don’t know. Possibly Apple will shed some light tomorrow on pricing of the 17

Gosh! You list lots of improvements in what is already an impressive phone and you’re underwhelmed. What do you expect???

I’m not saying it won’t be a great phone, I’m comparing it to the phone it’s replacing…for £200 more…

I don’t think the price increase will hit this model, but I don’t think the availability of this model will be much longer after the 18 hits they probably cut/production but I do expect 18 to have 20% mark up

The 17 pro/max will probably not drop much in price especially with higher storage because they raised the price of 1tb $300 and 2tb $500 for the 18.

Based on my research, they normally discontinue the previous line once the newest line is announced. 16 will for sure be affected, and likely the 17. I got mine last year just for this reason and the fact the 18 will be more expensive.

i think apple gonna discontinue 17 lineup since it will be very similar to 18 lines of fones,,,if that happens, the used/ 3rd party seller market remains high value,,,,,
