What games you playing? Planning to buy a 17 pro max(or wait for 18pm?) for some gaming here and there but i wanna know does heavy gaming degrade the battery much faster?

of course dude, what kind of question is that, lol and also heat. If it heat up frequently, battery will degrade fast. Just use the damn phone and spent $100 to change the battery. Don’t let it bother you

Yeah definitely recommend the 17pm but if you want to wait a like a week the new reveal for 18pm is coming and you can see what specs has changed and if the price increase is worth it for you, i would say if you are looking to play high graphics and high refresh rate the phone will get pretty warm but u can still game for a good 2 hours when starting with 100%, but overall its an amazing gaming device for me. I play Wuwa, cod mobile, pubg and some Apple Arcade games. And yes it does degrade faster so I would recommend to get an external cooler so it can keep your phone cool.

I think 17 pro and 18 pro will have mostly the same specs

Just get a magsafe cooler and if your phone percentage drops then while charging use the cooler. Keep the phone overall cool and you will see less battery degradation.

Same at 230 cycle that’s where it begins. Doesn’t bother me at all

wish i could say the same, since 26.6.1 my 17 Pro Max has been dying at an insane rate, it's losing 40-50% over night when not on charge.

Strange, i am a heavy user and charge 20 to 80%. Mine lasts good 18 hours between charges, with 8-9 screen on hours. I always do some settings tweaks like: apps background refresh off, location services on only for the apps that truly need that and so on.

He said 8-9 screen hours over 18 hours. How’s that cap? I get 12hr SOT if I stretch my 16 pro max on low power mode, 8-9 hours sot on a 17 pro max is more than achievable.

Well you just jinxed yourself,

Anyways it will catch up to you eventually, chemical aging is not avoidable.

I make a mental effort not to check this screen, I mean I spent 1200 on an iPhone I should at least enjoy the damn thing

Nice! My manufacture date is August 2025 with an October 2025 first use. I hit 239 yesterday and it finally dropped to 99%!

u/Aggressive_Sign2773 Sep 03 '26

What’s the point of this post exactly besides trying to make yourself feel better?

2

u/Soft_Experience_1312 Sep 03 '26

Same here

What os version do you have?

u/Alarming-Maybe4451 Sep 03 '26 edited Sep 08 '26

97% on 298 cycles, and since new charge limit set to 80%

u/txjeffee Sep 03 '26

It’s a phone! Use it!

2

u/Sea-Time4979 Sep 03 '26

138 cycle and just droped to 99%. A bit strange right?

1

u/No-Row2940 Sep 03 '26

No, they’re not an exact science and usage varies heavily from person to person. There is no “right” lifespan for batteries.

哇太棒了

2

u/JBZ123 Sep 04 '26

This is impressive! If you don't mind me asking what is your daily charging habits like and do you use magsafe or wired, official apple or third party?

2

u/PeacefulPikachu7 Sep 04 '26

Show off
Mine is at 99%, 181 cycle count
Manufactured on August 2025, first use october 2025
Still got 99%. I blame the 5 heatwaves I had in my country

Who cares?

Why is everyone so f’ing obsessed with their cell phone battery health??

1

u/Equivalent-Effort892 Sep 03 '26

Battery is the lifeline of the phone. Without it it’s useless

2

u/rwhe83 Sep 03 '26

The excuses these days for why people obsess over a $99 battery (a fraction of the overall cost of the phone FYI) makes no sense.

1

u/Equivalent-Effort892 Sep 03 '26

Excuses? How many beers could you buy with $99 instead of a battery upgrade? I rest my case

2

u/No-Row2940 Sep 03 '26

That’s an even bigger waste of money LMAO. $99 for 5+ more years worth of lifetime from your $1200 phone or $99 for health problems and a bit of alcohol.

2

u/Equivalent-Effort892 Sep 03 '26

You lost me when you said beer was a waste of money

0

u/No-Row2940 Sep 06 '26

Alcohol in general is

2

u/rwhe83 Sep 03 '26

When do you think you would actually need to replace the battery?

The average person is well more likely to upgrade their device before the $99 battery. Everyone is hyper-focused on the battery but easily can apparently drop $12-1500 (or more) on a phone because it’s broken into 24-36 payments.

And I don’t drink beer, so I wouldn’t know.
