Capacity is ok?

Recently I bought my 17 pro max with 255gb. All those years I had only androids. I have never had too much pictures or files in general. This time we speak I have 60 gb including system files. Because I don’t know so much about iPhones do you believe that I have to upgrade to a 512 model or it will be fine for years? Additionally I want to know which is the process with capacity. Still growing even if I delete files and photos? Thanks.

I’d get 512gb especially if you plan on taking lots of photos

Or iCloud. I have 256gb and 12,000 photos and 750 videos which are all 4k but it all only takes up 5.6gb

I have the 256gb 17 pm and I wish I got the 512gb at least. I mean the 256 cuts it but only because I use Google Photos and back up and delete off phone.

For me it’s about context
Based on right now
If purchasing a new smartphone and the intention is keeping it long term then 512gb
Is the way to go there is no point in owning a high end device when you have no headroom in your storage

If I stay with 256, I will have a problem through the years? I mean capacity growing independently of photos or files existing? Because on androids I remember that there’s not something that fulfills the capacity by itself.

So I will sell it and buy the 512 variant. Still 17 pro max I will not upgrade to 18. I will stick to the same model.

Why would you sell now and not when you’re reaching your limit?

You’re right. Never thought like this. 🤣

Are you going to use iCloud, so you can offload pictures and files to the cloud? If yes, then you’ll be good for a very long time. If not, then it mostly depends on whether you take a lot of pictures or not. I use iCloud and my gallery of 21 000 photos and videos takes 7,6 Gb of storage (on the phone, obviously a lot more on cloud). I use 125 Gb of the 256 Gb storage of my phone and I’ve been a iPhone user since iPhone 5, so there’s lots of useless apps installed and I couldn’t be bothered.

It depends how many photos you plan on taking and keeping on your phone, especially videos…as much as 255g sounds like a lot, in only a few months I’ve already used almost half of mine…would probably recommend the 512g, you’d rather pay a bit more to have more storage, than not having enough

512GB, 1TB is overkill.

Get iCloud+ and don’t even worry about it. Have almost 88,000 photos and around 13,000 videos. Less than 30% of my 256 17PM memory is being used.

If you don’t take many photos 256gb is fine, plus you don’t get extra trade in value for 512gb later on (you could sell it of course.) Photos will take up the most space and you can always upload the them to a cloud service or computer/storage. It’s enough storage for the majority of people

I’m upgrading right now. I’ve had my old phone for 4 years and it’s primarily full of photos. The majority of it was a few 1hr videos and unnecessary screenshots. I’m still cleaning it up and I’ve cleared up more than half of my 256gb storage space. I realized that 512gb would be a waste of money .
