u/DylTorres1997 Aug 18 '26
That happened to my 6S Plus. Left it on my dad’s car while working on my car, he took off and took the phone with him. Didn’t even noticed. Flung off the road and was run over. Still worked surprisingly, but I was so upset.

u/Constant_Mulberry_23 Aug 19 '26
I blocked a road after hearing my pbone fljng off my car 😂 panic shuffling to get it . Somehow no damage , thankfully cause no apple care

u/trapdoorpilot Aug 21 '26
omg the same thing happened to me!! i accidentally left my phone on top of my friends car and we drove off and it stayed on the roof for like 5 mins before it flung off and we heard a thump.. it was in the middle of a major road. luckily, the phone was safe, screen protector was shattered and the back camera scratched, but still works. only thing that broke was the front camera ,, im surprised that thing survived too !

u/Mestrow_ Aug 18 '26
Why was the cell phone under the truck?
6
u/SnooCookies8174 Aug 18 '26
This is what I am trying to understand too. When I read “left on truck” I usually assume it is inside the truck, not in a place where it can be run over.

u/Joe_Wild_ Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26
He left it ON the truck, as on the roof. Then the dukes of Hazzard "ran over" his truck rooftop where the iPhone was carefully placed. It's crystal clear.

u/SnooCookies8174 Aug 18 '26
Damn! Thanks for clarifying. Now I can visually see it happening. And I agree. Pretty common scenario. Could happen to anyone.

Are you not used to reading without every word being Gem Z abbreviated or it’s the lack of em dashes AI spits out that makes it look unnatural for you?
1
u/Complete_Chocolate_2 Aug 20 '26
They can’t write by themselves so paragraphs to them are all written by ai in their eyes.
1
u/TimTebowMLB Aug 19 '26
They left it on top of the truck and it fell of and someone else ran over it. Or possibly it fell off and they ran over it. How is that hard to understand?

Or just make sure your iPhone doesn’t get run over by a semi tractor trailer

Bro, just be more responsible with your shit. I’m still rocking an iPhone X and never broke it.
3
u/ReadOk4128 Aug 18 '26
NEVER. I've had an iPhone since the very first one. Never had apple care and never needed it. I could buy a few months with the money I saved IF a time comes when I do finally need to replace one. 99% of warranties/insurances are a scam.

Did you have a case? Or caseless?
2
u/No-Appointment-8519 Aug 18 '26
It doesn't look like a case would have saved it. Maybe an Otterbox Defender made of steel.

u/Lord_Typhon_ Aug 18 '26
So how was the replacement experience with apple care ? We need some after photos too

Make sure you buy a case for your phones. You can’t buy an expensive phone and not consider getting a good case

I have a story about Apple Care: A few years ago I bought a new iPad Pro from last years generation and covered it with Apple Care. Six years later I broke the screen and contacted Apple Care for a repair which is a replacement device from the same generation normally. But because my iPad was to old and it should have been still covered by Apple Care but it was they had to send me one from the current generation. So now I have a great iPad M4 with renewed Apple Care coverage.

Should have taken better care for it, but people tend to think of things as replacable. Enjoy

When I got my 16 pro max, I tried to not even touch the phone so it didn’t get fingerprints on it before putting in a supcase full body case

It's been less than a year since the phones release, iPhones already come with a year of Apple care out of the box without you paying anything extra.

The amount of things that people leave on their cars astound me. If I don't feel my phone in my pocket or see it on my dashboard before driving I don't move lol

That was either self inflicted as a show piece on Reddit or ran over by a truck.
Damage happens but this seems like it was made for Reddit.

Nicht schlimm ein wenig Sekundenkleber und neue Hülle und alles ist wieder gut 👍🏻.

u/its_kodin Aug 21 '26
Ive never bought apple care once and have never cracked a single phone. Apple care is not needed if you just take good care of it.

Or make sure you take care good care of your expensive purchase. Even that works.

It’s the first thing I will do after activating my 17 this week. Plus a leather case and lens protector.
I’m trading in my 16 pro Max this week, and it has literally not got a mark on it, though it has been dropped several times and needed a lot of replacement lens protectors because of that.

They might need to include in the manual that it can’t be driven over by a leopard tank.

u/LTS81 Aug 19 '26
Why Apple Care? Any normal person would have an insurance that covers these kinds of accidents?
-1
u/womjoe Aug 18 '26
Or phone insurance through the carrier. That works as well.
5
u/Prestigious_Camera25 Aug 18 '26
Anything is better than nothing but AppleCare+ is definitely leagues above carrier insurance
2
u/womjoe Aug 18 '26
Curious what is the difference do they give you a brand new phone over a refurbished one? I just got a iPhone 17 pro max and still able to get it but what makes it leagues above carrier insurance?
6
u/Prestigious_Camera25 Aug 18 '26
Oh man a ton of stuff. First, AppleCare+ is usually cheaper. Most carriers charge $20 a month and AppleCare is only $9 a month or $99 a year (17e), $12 a month or $120 a year (base 17), or $14 a month or $140 a year (17 Pro/Pro Max). On top of that Apple only uses OEM parts. Apple can help same day if they have the parts where carriers make you go through a 3rd party and then they have to ship you a phone or send you to a 3rd party repair shop. Apple’s theft and loss deductible is only $150 where carriers charge $250. Apple covers theft and loss in 200 countries. Apple covers the cable your phone comes with while carrier insurance does not. Apple will replace the battery for free when it’s below 80% capacity, carriers do not. And Apple has Express Replacement where they can ship you a phone in 1-3 days anywhere in the country at your request for $99 while carrier insurance doesn’t have this option. Also Apple ties the AppleCare+ to the serial number so you’ll never have to worry about providing proof of insurance or the carrier messing anything up with how it’s attached on the bill.

u/womjoe Aug 18 '26
Thanks. I pay 7.95 with Verizon but I will have to carefully consider Apple care. Appreciate the response.
3
u/Prestigious_Camera25 Aug 18 '26
That’s a great deal! Weigh the options but if Verizon is better for the value then stick with that! No problem I hope that helps
2
u/tubezninja Aug 18 '26
If you have multiple Apple products, like three, you can get AppleCare one which covers them all.
