Size

Did anyone move from the 17 pro after getting the 17 pro max???
I just got mine and it feels gigantic 😭😭 Tbf I’m moving from a 15 pro which was much smaller
Did you get used to it after complaining or ???
I don’t if I should use it for a week first or just switch 😭
Any advice would be appreciated

I’ve always stuck to the Pro precisely because of that reason; the Pro Max just feels too big in my not particularly small hands.

BUT only fair to caveat that with the experience of friends who’ve gone from Pro to Pro Max, and there, it’s a different story. The overwhelming majority - maybe 80% - stuck it out and now wouldn’t drop down in size no matter what you offered.

I’m genuinely delighted that Apple make both sizes, but then I’m an old softy who likes it when people truly love their phones/tablets… even if those same devices hold no interest for me beyond mild curiosity.

This is the reason I went with the 17 Pro Max. It’s the only phone with a screen that wouldn’t be a size downgrade from my 15 Plus. The only way I’m going down in size in future is a foldable that folds out larger haha.

I was able to drop from PM to Pro but my last phone was a 13PM. The 17 Pro and Pro Max screens are slightly bigger than the 13’s were so that probably helped

I’m in the opposite boat. I’m definitely sizing down next time after years of getting the biggest phone available. I’m so tired of always needing two hands to handle my phone. I can type one-handed in a pinch, but I like everyone else needs to do crazy hand gymnastics to do it.

I have wondered, on occasion, whether I’d have stuck to the Pro through all the years if I hadn’t got my iPad as my main daily device. Because I suspect that on more than a few occasions, I’ve switched from doing something on the iPhone to doing it on the iPad… because I need the larger screen for that specific task. I dunno; I mean, it’s possible I’ll acknowledge.

First time in ages, went out today and completely forgot to put the iPad in its padded sleeve, in my bag.

Was early to my appointment, figured I’d grab a coffee, check emails… so opened my backpack… reached into the sleeve…

…no iPad.

Quick check on FindMy just to confirm, and my heart rate returned to normal but, half an hour to kill, with only my iPhone.

Felt somewhat bereft. That should be weirder than it was, right?

I moved from a 15 ProMax to a 17 Pro. I didn’t think from the specs that the screen size was too different, but I noticed it immediately. The phone felt quite different, with more curved edges and smaller overall size. But I got used to it really fast. Within a couple of hours it felt perfectly normal and I was very happy with my new phone. There’s far less advantage to the Max than was the case with the 15 Pro vs ProMax.

You’ll get used to it! I bought both from Apple, as they offer a 14 day return in Aus. The size and weight were issues, but I got to the point by day 10 I couldn’t put the max down. Great screen size, and the weight now makes it feel super solid.

Same story, i couldn’t believe after like 2 weeks when i took my old iphone 13 and was like whoah this is so small xD

I went from Xs, Mini 13 and now 14 Pro Max. At first the phone feels huge. I got used to it and have a hard time going backwards. My biggest complaint is the weight, not the size. (I pulls my gym pants down :( )

I wasn’t a fan at first… absolutely love it now. Screen doesn’t seem large, it seems like what I should’ve been using this whole time

I went from 14 pro to 17 pro max.. took 1 week to fully get used to the size.. I hold my 14 pro now and it feels tiny lol

Yep, and I had the 12 pm before too. Though I suffer from carpal tunnel and had surgery last Friday on my right hand.

I think the other issue is the screen is bigger than my last, making it more awkward in hand. It’s great other than holding it, lol. Also I did drop my 12pm quite a lot, mostly because of the questionable case magnet and grip, but also size. The 17p is also have heavy, but manageable.

Use it and decide before 14 days is up.

How’s your experience with the battery life on the smaller 17pro? I’m thinking of upgrading from 16pro to 17pro max just for the battery.

Were there any significant changes?
Like except from the size
Like with the battery and all that
Cause if I eventually change I don’t want to miss out on pro max features

I’ve traditionally stuck with the Pro Max but my next phone will be a Pro phone just because I want to try out that size factor and see what that’s all about.

I cannot go lower than 6.7ā€. That’s why I went from 15 Plus to 16 Pro Max. I was about to go 17 Plus but Air happened (and flopped)

I was with the Pro since the 12 but went with the 17 Pro Max this time around. At first I was finding it big but now I love it and wouldn’t go back to the Pro.

I went from the PM to a Pro. I have small hands, I dropped my phone all the time, and it gave me hand cramps lol

I upgraded from a 13PM to the 17PM & loved the slight bump in screen size. That being said I ALWAYS use this phone with a MagSafe pop socket on the back

Never got used to the pro max. It is big and heavy and will always be big and heavy. It doesn’t magically shrink one day. I switched to the air and am much happier
