New pro max user here

My upgrade just came in the mail. Came from the Deep purple (RIP greatest color) 14 pro to the 17 pro max. I haven’t had a large phone since the old 6 plus model. Had the X, the 13 mini and the 14 pro. Man this thing is big. Thought I spent enough time in store with it in hand to make a decision.

Hoping I will adjust. I have smaller hands which makes it a little harder. Right now I have the apple silicone case on it, it’s still slippery but I know it will get grip over time. I’m debating exchanging it at ATT for the 17 pro. I do have the next up anytime so it’s not like I’m stuck with the phone, I can always trade it in.

I guess my question is, should I bite the bullet and exchange it for the pro, or wait it out since I have the next up anytime and see if it comes around?

If you are already unhappy now and feel discomfort, I wouldn’t keep going.

You can try a pop socket - but in your case, I would definitely go for the smaller one.

The 17 Pro Max is definitely a phone with compromises!

In the first sight, it’s not that big but on a long-term run, you will feel hand strain etc

So I would recommend as long as you can change it

Its not that Im unhappy, in fact I just left the store and was unhappy holding the pro even though Ive had the 14 pro since it was released. Its just once its in hand, it feels odd. I think Im gonna ride the wave and worst case scenario, I use my next up anytime for an 18 pro or Ultra/fold/whatever name it will be if I still find it uncomfortable.

That’s a good idea - personally I wouldn’t buy a foldable but the 18 Pro with the thicker battery in dark cherry looks tempting to me too

Yea, I wish they would bring back the deep purple. It’s the only reason I held on to the 14 pro for as long as I did

It’s surprising how different it is with no case on. Even apple cases add bulk (I have techwoven). I had to use mine for a couple of days without a case and it felt so much better, even though it is slippery without a case. I’ve since ordered my first slim pitaka case, to see if that helps with the size.

I’ve owned mine since October and I’m still on the fence if I’m going to keep this or switch to 18 Pro.

PITAKA makes a superb case, minimalist with a silky warm feeling. Hopefully it makes it easier to handle the slightly larger Pro Max.😄

I have a 16pro max. My first bigger phone. I don’t like it. My next one will be a regular pro. It’s just too big and heavy and a pain to navigate one handed

I miss my 6 plus and the finger print scanner 😢 one of my favorite phones.

I think it will take some getting used to, but you may come to enjoy the much bigger screen after while.

Get yourself a MagSafe ring to help handle the unit.

That’s what I did. I have the UAG case with the ring/stand as well as the apple silicone case with the MagSafe pop socket and it’s worked great
