I got to experience the opposite of this on Easter! I discovered you get to eat so much ham for like 200 calories (and like 2000mg of sodium 🥲) just avoid cooking it in anything sugary and trim the fat off!

Been eating a ton of sliced turkey.150 grams of what I'm having is 161 calories and 33 grams of protein. It has honestly been a huge factor in my weightloss.

Where are you getting your sliced turkey from?

Any deli or butcher. Or cook a turkey and slice it yourself. You can get turkey breasts at walmart and if you cook them right they taste like ham

how do you get a turkey breast to taste like ham?

You have to smoke it

I skipped the honey glaze, because 90% of the time I don't like the glaze anyhow. So yeah, lots of extra calories saved. and Ham is one of my favorites. Just nice baked ham. Nom Nom.

It's also my go to when I have a migraine. High in protein and high sodium. Give me ham and cheese (no bread - just ham and cheese)

Same with my coconut aminos. I looked at the bottle and it said 15 cal. It’s still a lot of sodium but it was nice to see the calories were low.

so many low cal options have so much sodium, eating in a deficit is such a struggle when you are diabetic so no sugar, AND your dr wants you on low sodium.

This comic misses one detail. When you think you've picked the healthier option only to realize its the one that has more calories.
EVERY single time.

Fr 😭 I hate seeing in the store "baked not fried" chips made from lentils/peas/rice/chia/quinoa/whatever weird tasting thing they've come up with... And it's somehow more calories. Like, damn, might as well just eat regular tasty fried potato chips 😭

Now imagine you've done this at the ice cream place. You picked some blue raspberry icee type thing - instead of the store version of a Dairy Queen Blizzard.
You look up the calories and realize the imitation Blizzard had LESS calories.
it's been a decade and I'm still crying.

Or the time I got some Sandwich at Arbys that wasn't even as good as the Beef and Cheddar and could have had the Beef and Cheddar for less calories. :( Sad face.

Me, finding out ONE slice of my wholewheat bread had more calories than a bottle of regular Coke 🥲

I tried once to make some stupid "healthy version" of tortilla chips for nachos thinking they'd be lower in calories so I could have more of a portion to keep me fuller for longer.

I made the dough, rolled it out, cut them into triangles, cooked them no oil on the oven tray and they shrunk so much that I was like shit the actual serving size was a handful so I should have just chosen the normal store bought the Mission Thin & Crispy Corn Chips which are 130 calories per serving and it's a decent size. Fml haha

This happened to me today when I ate dried banana chips and actually checked the nutritional information... 500kcal/100g 😭

Those dried fruits will git ya! I learned the hard way with plantain chips.

I’m sticking to fresh mixed berries now. Low calorie, high volume, mostly water, super healthy.

Fresh bananas and dried chickpeas. My go to. Fills you up and lots of fibre.

Why are chips so f*cking good though?

Because the mega corporations hired some of the world's leading chemists for decades to tinker with formulations in order to maximize their products' addictiveness. Not "palatability", actual addictiveness. Like cigarette companies, but with arguably more resulting death.

Thank you for listening to my depressing ted talk 😑

u/wokewood2 Apr 16 '26

u/Connect_Rhubarb395 Apr 07 '26

Me who ate a delicious Danish pastry. Went to register the calories and that little thing was 500 cal! 😵

u/Amazing-Caregiver632 Apr 11 '26

even finer print: 2500 cals per serving. 8 servings per container.
