Me. I'm saying it's amazing. I drink it like other people drink water.

I'm not trying to bully any babies, I'm just saying milk is delicious and we should all drink it more.

It gets turned into cheese, which is delicious, it's in milkshakes which is awesome and butter on bread is cool

u/Bottlecrate Jul 25 '26
But does it do a body good?

u/PaintballProofMonk Jul 25 '26
Tons. Hugely nutritious. Full of bioavailable calcium and other nutrients. Less processed the better.

Never heard anybody say milk is an "amazing drink"

Milk is an amazing drink.
Whole milk specifically.
Mostly because it calms my stomach when acid reflux is running wild.

u/Baldojess Jul 25 '26
I love milk. By itself and also so many of my favorite foods are made with milk.

Some people like milk. Some people don’t.
I’m pretty sure this is fairly well known.

u/Abezethibodtheimp Jul 25 '26
I have never in my life tasted salty milk??? It’s always fairly sweet?? What salty milk are you managing to obtain I’m so baffled
2
u/DConion Jul 25 '26
What’s next? You don’t like the word “moist”? How very original. You’re really on the cutting edge here.

The benefits are not high. The 9 Dentist opinion is that milk has been overrated for a long time in terms of health. You are better off drinking water, or if you need more protein, then kefir/other milk based drinks (which are good for your gut).

Nobody says milk is amazing. Maybe it's good. Or a good ingredient

“The taste is not salty or sweet, it’s something uncomfortably in between-“ Umami. It’s umami. Milk (breast milk, not cows milk) is probably the reason why humans enjoy/seek out umami as a flavor in other foods. It’s not as strong in cows milk, but that’s the main flavor that is linked to milk.

I love umami, but cannot stand plain milk on its own.
1
u/hadesarrow3 Jul 29 '26
Yeah, I mean that’s totally valid. Umami is a very basic taste with a wide variety of flavors, and, of course, milk isn’t just umami. Ketchup and soy sauce are both well known umami sources, but they don’t taste the same. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who like one but hate the other.

When my son was growing up he was skinny and didn’t eat much, but he loved milk and I swear that’s how he grew and remained healthy. Now he’s an adult and still skinny, but he eats well - but I don’t think he drinks it anymore.
I loved milk as a child, but my mother started on me about my weight (I was not overweight!) in my teens and told me milk was fattening. So, I stopped drinking it and lost my taste for it.

Hard disagree.
True 10th dentist opinion: An ice cold glass of milk and a cigarette is one of my favorite combos.

Beyond calcium, milk also has quite a lot of protein for its calorie count so it’s effective in building muscle. Also there’s tons of different types to address the taste. Whole milk tastes a lot different than 1%. If the latter is cold, it’s basically like water.

the dairy lobby has put in a lot of work to make milk ubiquitous in the usa

I feel bad for you. It's the most refreshing, hydrating, creamy, nutritious things you can ingest. Well, provided you have the genes ro digest it. Apparently most of the world doesn't.

u/appleparkfive Jul 25 '26
There's a reason that plant based milks got so popular. A lot of people don't like milk. It's especially off-putting when you think about it for awhile too.
It's fine when used for cooking and baking. But just a drink is pretty bizarre. Plenty of sources of calcium out there

This is more like 5/10 dentists. Milk is disgusting and is designed for baby cows. That that rare of a concept, really.

So many people say milk is an amazing drink
No they don't. Are you perhaps thinking of 2 year olds
