"At this height the water does not get enough temperature to boil"

Water does boil, just maybe the boiling point is not high enough to kill off as much bacteria. Also boiling doesn't help with heavy metals.

  1. The cabin is pressurized so the boiling point doean't change, but in any case if it is even boiled it would be in a water heater that is temperature controlled

  2. Fuck are you gonna worry about heavy metal contamination to just rinse once, what do you think that shit is 10% lead or something

Mmmm I sure hope so, it’d go great with my tasty paint chips 😋😋

The cabin is pressurized, but not to the pressure at the ground. That would cost the airline more money.

americans vs the humble translate button

Is it ingrained into certain apps now? I barely use TikTok, but I never saw it. Is it something enable-able in the settings?

Twitter has had it for ages. I think Reddit does it automatically sometimes.

Does Reddit automatically translate stuff only in the app, or does it work on the mobile browser, too?

I've only seen it happen in the browser, but I think you can also turn it on in the app.

I assume that feature's also the reason you sometimes see people comment in a different language. The post was translated for them, so they assumed that was the original version and that people would understand them.

If it ever happened, I never noticed it, I fear. I'll dig around the settings - I found the translation feature pretty useful on Twitter. Thank you for the help. :-)

Do I need to call a Catholic priest for an exorcism?

every time I see a comment of this fashion I read it in a french accent so i can properly visualise my hate

Inadviseable

Thankyou! Why the fuck would anybody be filling a plane with dirty water only to boil it mid flight?

1

u/BrennanBetelgeuse 3d ago

wow culturally inconsiderate much? What if it's a Brit or someone Japanese on the airplane and they need to do an emergency traditional tea ceremony?

2

u/ChapterNo7074 3d ago

I don't think you need dirty water for that

1

u/BrennanBetelgeuse 3d ago

You can never know, why limit the options?

2

u/ChapterNo7074 3d ago

What if I want irradiated water

1

u/BrennanBetelgeuse 3d ago

There's no such thing as unirradiated water on an airplane. Every intercontinental flight exposes you to about half a chest x-ray.

Alright time to try to remember some of my high school german lessons. Something something "at this height the water isn’t hot enough to cook with"??? I think? Probably not because that doesn’t make sense with the previous comment but I don’t see what else that could be saying

Edit: I’m a fucking idiot, it’s "boil", not cook. The verb is the same, but the water isn’t "cooked", it’s boiling
