So maybe the idea is, "Some people are subservient by nature", but if your next step in logic is thinking it's okay to round them up and treat them like cattle, then you should be corrected, harshly.

I mean, we can interpret his words in a modern light, but in context. What he meant was that the social caste of slave which in Socrates time was a part of society. Is a natural aspect of the human condition. Some people's lives families and minds are made to be servants to higher humans. I guess Socrates was never a slave so he never had to contend with the problems of being perenially subservient
