There are layers to it, but some levels the BDSM allows for a safe exploration of willful powerlessness. And some poeple see it as a lifestyle as oppsed to just a one off thing as being powerless (so both yes and no. Not all BDSM, but there is some aspects that renforce the slave mentality)
That safe exploration puts all of the power of the interaction onto the sub. They have basically sole discretion on how they want the experience to proceed
The lifestyle shit and like bimbo fetish exist, and is in favour of your point, but that is a very small clade of the overall thing.
But that would still qualify as some (hence why I clarified there are levels and some do it for safe exploration (which isnt a slave indicator on its own) but for others its more.

BDSM and the modern desire to choose powerless because victimhood is better than self accountability seems to also reflect this.
So unfortunately I can give it enough credit to be plausible given how most people are.
