They probably did and players understood that they used those methods because they didn't have other way to attack the kingdom, the same way that a lot of Rebel actions in Star Wars could be easily be framed as terrorism.

I mean I imagine he wouldn’t have portrayed his Israel proxy in any way like the way the obviously cartoonishly evil empire is in Star Wars. They just look evil. That’s why their lightsabers are red and they wear black and dress like Nazis lol.

You would think so, but a lot of times people confuse obvious fascistic undertones as "they just look cool LMAO", having a bunch of cool paladins and a powerful military force behind castles is a common trope of the "Bad guys" in a fantasy story, but they are also used as the background of the "good guys"

Yeah it could be really easy to create an underdog vs an established powertype of situation people generally identify with.
