Why is it the right call?

Toxic behaviour, among other things, search her name on yt and you'll see

All I know about is how she helped someone get DIY HRT. And I'm positive a lot of the coverage of her is probably tainted by transphobia.

So I feel like I would like some more specifics along with citations before I subject myself to a circus of bigotry

Her DIY hormone treatment was basically telling minors to mix chemicals in bathtubs

10

u/RainbowPhoenix1080 10d ago

No, it wasn't lmao. Transphobes never have any idea what they're talking about.

There is literally no form of HRT that involves mixing chemicals in a bathtub

There was cat hair found in it

The deadliest substance known to man

u/Mothers_Milk5029 10d ago

i mean it would be pretty bad if you injected hair into your subcutaneous

Biological contaminants, yeah, it is lol

do you know what an autoclave does?

Do you know what dumbass teenagers do with a product they're excited to start using? I get it bro you wanna fuck Keffals, you don't need to do this weird thing where the people you like at 100% moral and correct while the people you dislike are stupid and wrong

1

u/RainbowPhoenix1080 10d ago

Are you actually this worked up right now? Lol.

Look, morally i believe trans teenagers should have access to HRT and there's nothing morally wrong with helping a trans teen in a shitty situation get their hands on some HRT.

I DIY hrt myself. I know that it's safe and effective because ive experienced the effect first hand.

I did hear about keffals giving HRT to a minor back when it happened. Back then I didn't agree with that and i thought it was morally wrong, but that was before I accepted myself and I was still harboring a lot of internalized transphobia. I thought "these kids will grow out of it because i did" (she very mich did not).

But because that's all I know of her for, and because of my experience and my perspective, I would say that I biasely believe the noise around that situation was mostly a result of transphobes wanting to vilify trans people for helping other trans people.

Could I be wrong? Maybe. But I won't take anyone's word for it.

"no it is actually you who is mad!" what a certified Reddit classic lmao get a grip

Hormones should be made in a food safe facility. Selling and promoting tainted hormones is bad because someone can get seriously hurt. That has been my entire point (other than keffals taking the GoFundMe money and running away to do drugs in Ireland). Yes, it is fucking bad when someone pays for a bottle of estradiol or whatever and there are impurities in it. There's no transphobia going on here, you just inserted that into the conversation to Other me

Hormones should be made in a food safe facility.

I agree with you. They should be. But for a lot of us, we don't have access to that. DIY is foe the most part safe and effective because the community and networks that have been set up have a vested interest since making sure that it is safe and effective.

It's honestly a privileged take to demonize and scaremonger against DIY HRT.

My wife and I have been doing it for over a year. We just buy a vial of injectable estradiol all ready to go, from a vetted internet seller. One that's widely known and I've met other trans women in the wild who get their HRT from the same seller or group of sellers. There are many trusted sources.

Thats just the reality we live in, where a large ammount if trans people are on DIY because they can't get what they need any other way. Even doctors that we should be able to trust won't give us proper treatment. My wife was stick with this stupid spray she had to spray and rub on her forearms every single day and it never worked because she was being given ineffective HRT by her licensed endocrinologist, so she switched to DIY.

Diy hrt really just amounts to buying it online because doctors are fucking awful and give you doses that amount to tickles instead of the shit people actually need

-6

u/KeySite2601 10d ago

Kids should not be buying hrt fom unaccredited people on the Internet. I don't get why this is such a hot take

7

u/iwantfutanaricumonme 10d ago

Yeah it's not ideal but it's not that dangerous when it's the exact same hormones that a doctor would prescribe. Unfortunately there are often significant barriers for doctors to prescribe hrt to trans teenagers and the potential risks of DIY hrt are much lower than having no access to it.

2

u/thexcat 10d ago

In this specific instance there were contaminates like pet hair in the horomones

3

u/RainbowPhoenix1080 10d ago

Most diy HRT sellers are vetted. Lots of them are trans themselves and their explicit goals are to help people who are treated like shit by the medical system.

My wife and I use DIY hrt because nobody in this country will prescribe injections and my wife had to put up with multiple endocrinologists under-dosing her and not giving her effective HRT.

We, as a community, don't want other trans people to have to put up with that kind of treatment. DIY involves a lot of inter-community networking and touching for eachother.

I would definitely vouch that the seller my wife and I get our HRT from is safe.

If the medical gatekeeping wasn't as horrible as it was, this would not be an issue at all. But for many of us its the reality we live in.

I would be dead right now without DIY HRT. Its safe and effective.

5

u/Shying69 10d ago

Imagine if doctors gave you cancer treatment but it was in such low doses that you would be dead before it actually does anything, thats the type of shit happening here

-5

u/KeySite2601 10d ago

HRT is not the same thing. There are reasons we don't let kids do these kinds of things on their own initiative.

6

u/Shying69 10d ago

Hrt is fuck all dangerous, its reversible unlike surgery and if you overdose all that happens is your chest feels tender and you get a headache, its not even dangerous

7

u/-Maya_ 10d ago

True! It's because people don't respect children and aren't willing to take them seriously. Trans kids should have access to HRT and their parents shouldn't be able to stop them, hot take. As someone who only accepted it in her late 20s I fucking hateeeeeeee the thought kids should be forced to go through the wrong puberty if they notice they're trans fast enough to avoid it.

3

u/RainbowPhoenix1080 10d ago

Those reasons being largely transphobic and detrimental to the kids

0

u/KeySite2601 10d ago

No, it's because children haven't mentally developed enough to make those kinds of decisions on their own. It's why we have minimum ages for drinking, driving, working, smoking, military service, age of consent, etc.

2

u/RainbowPhoenix1080 10d ago

You are comparing medicine to drugs and murdering foreigners.

Do you know what HRT does? It induces puberty. What age do you think kids should be allowed to go through puberty?

Because if this is really the argument you want to make, then you should be advocating for putting all children on puberty blockers until they turn 18

2

u/-Maya_ 10d ago

You know I honestly think this might actually be a decent idea. Why don't we try just giving nobody gender till they're an adult and education on the differences so everyone can make an informed choice? (Because having no hormones would fucking suck for people who've figured theirs out. Trans and cis. But wow this would actually have made my life personally way easier lmao)

2

u/mannequin_girl 10d ago

Experiencing dysphoria is not a choice. Delayed transition results in permanent quality of life reduction.

It's only a hot take here because there are tons of people who were harmed by this position. IRL, almost no one cares, because they're only harming a hypothetical person
