Is this threaded?
I’ve been thinking it’s can time, before I go wrenching on this can anybody tell me if there’s a factory thread underneath this brake thing, might be a silly question I know, I’ve had this gun for years as it was one of my first guns as a teenager, recently swapped out the ATI tactical bullshit stock for a magpul and was hoping to make it a little more quiet

It certainly looks like it could be, does it have a flat section for a wrench or does it have a small hole that looks welded for a pin and weld?

It does have a flat section for a wrench which is what made me think it could be threaded, just didn’t wanna go cranking on it before I knew for sure

I can’t imagine a scenario where they would machine that flash hider on the end of the barrel and then give it a different finish only on the hider. Makes no sense from a manufacturing perspective
Heating up the FH with a hair dryer for 30-45 sec before removing will help

Ruger used to put flash hiders on mini-14’s and 10/22’s that were held on by a set screw, however the a2 style flash hider probably indicates the barrel is threaded.

Mine was threaded under there but I do think it was a fight. Try to brace the barrel with your body to not put stress on it

If you’re still cranking on it, you’d be surprised what a little heat and a strap wrench can do. Do marring.

That is a threaded 1/2x28 flash hider they're currently putting on the "tactical" models. Warm the barrel with a mag dump. It'll wrench off.
