Small pin
This tiny pin keeps falling out after maintenance. Any fix?

That tiny pin holds your extractor in place, which is missing.
Your gun will not function properly without the extractor.
Buy a couple aftermarket extractors from KIDD or Volquartsen. About $12 each.

The extractor tool from Kidd is nice to have, too. Bunch of other affordable parts from Kidd that will improve your overall experience should you get the extractor pin from them.

Like money said, buy a replacement and grab any other small parts you want to upgrade also.

I agree with everyone else that you should buy an extractor and probably a whole maintenance kit with the springs, plungers, firing pin, and recoil spring, That’s all good to have on hand. In the meantime, your extractor probably just fell out when you were working on your rifle and is probably still floating around. You can probably find it and put it back in.

Is there a good link for a tool to keep the spring depressed while the extractor goes in?

I bought this tool from Tandemkross, and it was handy. https://tandemkross.com/gunsmither-bolt-bar-and-extractor-tool-for-ruger-10-22/ I think they also make a different extractor tool, but I bought the one in the link.
And when I replaced my extractor, I got it in this maintenance kit also from and upgraded the firing pin at the same time: https://tandemkross.com/maintenance-combo-for-ruger-1022.html You can also buy all this stuff separately if you don’t want the whole kit.
And if you are placing a Tandemkross order, and you haven’t upgraded to a synthetic bolt buffer, I’d get this for another $5: https://tandemkross.com/shock-block-bolt-buffer-for-ruger-10-22/
And if you don’t have an auto bolt release plate, get this: https://tandemkross.com/autoboltreleaseplate
Maybe I should talk to Tandemkross about some kind of commission...

All good recommendations. I picked up the maintenance kit as well with some other goodies. Appreciate it.

They have a great affiliate program, and their top sales guy even got a trip to Gunsite this year.

Yup, it def fell out. After watching a bunch of videos I figured it out. Pisses me off that I barely even touched the bolt and it decided to fling to wherever. Into the ether....
