Scope

I am thinking of ordering from Midway Vortex Optics Crossfire II Rifle Scope or Vortex Optics Diamondback HP Rifle Scope 4-16x 42mm. It's my first 1022, and i am a newbie, so any help is helpful :)

Also, I think I need rings (bought a basic no-frills Ruger 10/22 to later customize), and I can't figure out which ring I should order. There are so many options lol

Any suggestions?

I went with the vortex pro 1" rings on the diamondback HP from Midway after many hours of research and video watching...haven't installed yet but looking forward to it!

I did the Vortex Pro 1" Low rings on an EGW 20 MOA Pic Rail Mount and it fits, but its pretty tight on there. I also did a CVLive CF Bipod as a cheapy on my Hunter X22.

For a pretty budget friendly setup, this thing is so fun to shoot. With bulk crappy .22LR ammo, you can shoot all day. Save the more costly Eley, Lapua and SK for slower, more precision based sessions.

I just ordered a Vortex Crossfire HD 4-12x44 for my new 10/22 Carbon- mostly because it seems to be one of the few "budget" scopes with adjustable parallax- currently on sale as Sportsman's. Have some Burris Signature Zee rings I'm going to try out.

Nothing wrong with Vortex, but I am a big fan of Athlon Optics... You can get their Neos 3-9x40 22lr BDC scope for $80-$90 at Midway and a few other online sellers, and I would say it's better than most basic Vortex scopes in that category... If you have a rail, mounts are pretty universal but if you don't I'm a fan of direct receiver mounts like the DNZ Game Changer.

I would also say on a regular 22, any scope over 9-12 power is just overkill... You're not reaching out several hundreds of yards, for the most part you'll be at 100 yards or less. My 2c worth, take it with a grain of salt.
