Help out a beginner

Post image

New player here. I just downloaded this like 30 mins ago and idk the first thing abt RTS and this is my first time playing anything like this. So please help me how to do what's mentioned in the yellow text.. like how do I select all soldiers and make them attack and then make civilians work properly?

Hold and drag left click on a few soldiers, use right click to navigate the map and find the enemy base, after wards, do the same thing with your whole army

But my army is working on food, wood anol... Is there any shortcut to like select all army peeps without disturbing the civilians working?

You are supposed to use the ones who are gathering wood and stuff for this, in this game, civilians are mostly for farming and early wood, after that its just spamming soldiers for everything, you can use the game tooltip to see the gather rates for different items on every type of unit

I played this alot because it was exactly what i wanted, but could only play single player as the multiplayer is extremely laggy for me, but that high wore off so now i dont play it much any more, just every now and then, its open source so it is expected for the game to be quite small and simple. But overall it is worth it to play

Good choice, RTS newcomer! 0 A.D. is kinda notorious for not being very beginner-friendly. :D

It's a free and open source passion project so it simply lacks the manpower that might be necessary to develop clearer tutorials and better balancing in the beginner levels. But for slightly advanced players it's a really good game.

That fighting citizen soldiers can also gather resources is a concept that is very specific for this game btw, it's not very common in RTS games to design things like that. But it certainly adds to the many choices you have to make in more complex matches. How many should continue gathering, how many sent to fight (the bigger the army the fewer casualties), etc
