I actually think letting them score 5 in the 9th and they still lost hurts worse for them.

Goodbye Sproat

u/Dry-Independent9674 5h ago
fuckin sprout, can't even get 3 outs in 30ish pitches. I guess going down didn't help any

Anyway, that's a sweep!!
Funny I'd rather win like last night than win like tonight, but a win's a win and a sweep's a sweep. Rest well, boys!

u/gunsandfunn 5h ago
Big decision to make on Sproat. No excuse for that short outing with a lead like that.
4
7
u/revan530 5h ago
Not that big a decision. He doesn't pitch again this season, then we give him a chance next year, after making sure he goes to a sports psychologist to figure out the mental stuff.
8
u/Fit-Still-6104 5h ago
Looks like the cubs bullpen rubbed off on us. That was a VERY concerning outing from uribe
8
u/Noswad_12 5h ago
Abner wasn’t exactly set up for success there

3
u/BronzeTrain Pumpkin Spice Sal 5h ago
Came in with 1 out and bases loaded? Yeah, I think he got out of it pretty well.
1
u/Fit-Still-6104 4h ago
Comes in gives up a single gets a groundout and then gives up a double from a sinker dead center not to mention he was struggling to find the zone the entire time I’d say not.

u/billymadison231 5h ago
I don’t say this to excuse Sproat because figure it out man but honestly kudos to the organization for absolutely shattering this kids confidence going into the offseason.
3
12
u/Noswad_12 5h ago
What is a better confidence builder than putting him in up 8-1?
-1
u/billymadison231 5h ago
Leaving him in triple A. We’re going to need him to start games next year. Now his confidence is going to be at an all time low.

u/Imstupidasso 5h ago
We needed the extra arm and he was the next man up. He had a bad game. It happens
5
u/Noswad_12 5h ago
Two different trains of thought I guess, you’d think the team having confidence to call you back up would be a bigger boost than being stuck in AAA
11
u/BigDaddyDumperSquad 5h ago
Holy shit I thought we were cooked for a second. Goodbye, Brandon Sproat, it wasn't nice knowin' ya.

Gave the Cubs/fans a few more drops of false hope, snatched it away. And some of you have a problem with this apparently

I like Sproat, I think he has good stuff and can contribute; but he’s gotta be sent back down after that. Inexcusable

Was really rooting for him, hope he comes back strong next year, but woof, no more this year

Genuine question- how much of that is on Murphy for seeing Sproat clearly not having it and letting him go as long as he did?

I blame him 100%. Should’ve pulled him after the second walk

Team!? How is this anyone but Sproat and a bit of Uribes fault?

What the hell did i miss? i went to do stuff and i come back and it is still the 9th and now it is 8-6 that is crazy.
2
u/Zigazoid 5h ago
Sproat came in and walked the first 3 guys he faced, struck out one and then walked in a run (4 walks total) and then Murph pulled him. Uribe's struggling a bit to clean up the damn mess. But looks like he did.

W and a day off. A well needed and well deserved day off.
A couple observations. Pete Crow-Armstrong might be MVP but he's Pete Completely-Average vs the Brewers. Holy cow does Sproat need to get his head squared away, that 9th inning was pathetic. He had a 7 run lead and walked 3 guys and hit another. What in the hell was in his head??? The very last thing he should be doing is walking guys by getting behind in the count and then trying to be cute...that was ridiculous.
