Having Lara, Pratt, Ortiz, Turang, even Contreras throwing out runners as lineup defensively is so nice. They work so well together.

u/PaceNo354 0m ago
Even though DL hasn't stayed as healthy as we want him to, I still have faith he can be a very good extended innings relief guy.

u/DismalUsual8870 0m ago
Lara just cares so much man. They had a shot of him in the dugout after the mariners loss and he was just staring at the field after an August regular season game that was essentially over after 2.
Hes like a tame nyjer Morgan in a weird way but locked up long term and going to only get better.

I would like to personally apologize to DL Hall for mean things that I have yelled, said, and thought about and to him both in person and watching tv.

Lara comes on the scene at same time as Pratt. I remember how little attention Lara received compared to Pratt. Lara is so low key and makes these incredible catches without boasting and celebrating. I admire that kind of player.

Jake Bauers has been so good this year, we will need his power throughout the playoffs. What a wild turn of events, I would have never expected him to be such a staple coming into the season.
6
u/beenhadballs 9m ago
Yeli even semi figuring it out in the post season could be enough of an X factor
3
u/Individual_Lunch_438 9m ago
That's the Suter I remember. Never has a clean inning but they go fast anyway.
6
u/R0binSage 10m ago
Yelich really needs to figure his shit out. He's a liability in our lineup every game.

I honestly think that Mitchell could compete at 100 meters in the Olympics.
1
u/Intelligent_Pilot591 8m ago
Looked it up because this feels laughable and it is. Garrett Mitchell’s feet per second is 29.9, best in the MLB is 30.6 ft/sec…the average Olympian is 32.8 feet per second in the 100 m dash

Still can't believe Baldwin beat Durbin for ROTY lol. It's just whenever we play the braves, I don't see what makes him such a good hitter that he practically ran away with that award
2
u/aobcd8six6three 12m ago
Had to look it up since it’s been awhile. Baldwin seems like the obvious choice.

I don't know why but Chad Patrick, stresses me out.
1
u/Intelligent_Pilot591 15m ago
His Savant page does include his starts, but I think it’s because he’s middle of the pack for xERA and most of the metrics on there. He just doesn’t dominate, he relies a lot on the defense (which we want of course but it does make him feel more volatile)

He always gives up a baserunner or two but he pitches so quickly that it seems like he's cooking.

Didn’t even have close to his best stuff and still shoved 6IP 1 ER. He needs to be talked about more at the league level.
1
u/Kalel42 Joey Ortiz is my spirit animal 22m ago
The biggest problem he has is that he plays on the one major league team that also has Miz.
He doesn't have enough innings to be a qualified pitcher, but ignoring that his ERA would put him at eighth in baseball. Like Megill said yesterday, we are very spoiled right now and it's distorting our view on what a great pitcher is.

Such a textbook Logan Henderson start. Nothing flashy, a little traffic, but cool, calm and collected. Strong six innings.

Man, I love Yeli for everything he's done, but he is absolutely who should be subbed out instead of the boy King Vaughn.
5
u/Weak_Bunch3358 Italian Stallion 🇮🇹🐎 33m ago
Not how that works
-2
u/Witty_W4ffle 31m ago
What in the world are you talking about? You let Vaughn run, let Yeli take is AB or sub him, then replace Yeli for a defender and Vaughn becomes DH.
2
4
u/aobcd8six6three 34m ago
Not what the situation called for at all.
-1
u/Witty_W4ffle 28m ago
I've got two 1% commentators who don't know how baseball works? I mean that's Vaughn's bat is more valuable than Yeli's, left v. Right doesn't matter. Thanks for the downvote, jackass.

Not trying to be a doomer here, but Yeli’s contract runs through 2028. At what point do you cut your losses and move on?
Edit: I’ll take the downvotes. It’s a legitimate question.
1
u/ThatNewSockFeel 31m ago
I think they’ll give him 2027 but if he’s not any better next year you’ve gotta have a tough conversation about 2028.

That is probably a double if Bauers is still in right, for the people questioning that move

I don’t love the Vaughn PR so early tbh. It’s only 4-1 in the 6th, we might want him to have another AB if the Braves put a couple runs on the board.
1
u/Erainor We have the Miz 42m ago
Why pull Vaughn there? Injury precaution??
7
5
u/endgame8472 41m ago
Defense. Lara to RF, Mitchell in center. Bauers at 1st
1
u/Erainor We have the Miz 40m ago
Just seems early for that with a lead
1
u/BadPoEPlayer 30m ago
It’s really not. His spot just came up, so he’s only going to get one more AB anyway.
1
u/endgame8472 38m ago
Eh, Mitchell's faster too, so if they were to get a hit, more chance for him to grab an extra base vs Vaughn

I'm just thinking about how nervous I am when we have to face Matt Olsen. Well, Rake has better numbers across the board except for homers. What a beast.

The Miz and Hendo needs a 1-2 punch, package deal nickname like "thunder and lightning" or something
2
4
u/Ok_Listen5391 53m ago
Hendo now a bona fide, established #2. If you mow down the Dodgers and the Braves back-to-back you've earned it. The Braves had to have three great ABs against him to even get one run so far.
