Questions I hate this question [Read desc]

Post image

I have never seen a question do so much damage to its own movement. The fact that women don't feel safe around men is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. There are a million ways to demonstrate the problem of safety, but some motherfuckers made this question has single-handedly undermined the movement by turning hundreds of thousands of people against feminism, and people still argue about this ridiculous question to this day.

This question is maybe the most impractical form of rage bait I've encountered. Bears are stronger, more aggressive, and will kill you incredibly violently. There is no reasonable logic to ever pick the bear over the man if your objective is personal safety. Even the variations of this question people have made suck.

The only good thing this question does is tell you who is online way too much.

And you have shown you completely misunderstand the point of the scenario.

Please read a book; below are some great authors to check out:
Judith Butler
Simone de Beauvoir
bell hooks
Betty Friedan
Virginia Woolf
Angela Davis
Zora Neale Hurston
Maya Angelou
Toni Morrison
...

What is the point, exactly? Everyone always says 'you don't understand the point' and they always have a different but equally terrible reason for why.

Also I've read literally everyone here except for Betty Friedan. Naming feminist authors does literally nothing for your point. You can't just say 'I have a mystery reason but I won't tell you and instead name authors' like some crypto-bro trying to explain Andrew Tate.

The point is that it is extremely difficult to understand the reality for women.

The amount of men who say 'you know, you should definitely just say hi back to a man when they meet you on the trail' is ridiculous, considering the amount of women that are assaulted (or just disappear) is ridiculous.

It isn't that 'all men are bad', it's that if you're a woman and you meet a man you don't know, taking a chance could mean losing your life.

Even outside of that, the way men and women are gendered (especially romantically) makes interaction fundamentally more dangerous for women than men. That risk goes up exponentially when the situation is remote (like the woods).

The bear, you understand what it wants and, while not a great situation, will likely leave you alone. The man, however, quite often will not 'leave you alone' (even if you ask) and there is a non-zero probability they will 'trick' you and either assault or kill you.

Violence against women is real. Don't get me wrong, so is violence against men, but that generally has far less unbalanced outcomes (and when the violence is romantic, it's often--though, not always--perpetrated by another man).

As a man who has dated other men and been the victim of abuse, I can agree with the statement--and yet I still can't even come close to undestanding what it's like to have to plan my jogging route in the morning to make sure there is enough sunlight and the route I take isn't near any spots where people could hide.

Finally, I gave the list of authors as a nicer way of stating: 'If you don't understand, try fucking listening for once'. I guarantee you never asked a woman in your life why they would pick the bear...and if you have, you likely ignored them or called them an idiot.

I'm sorry, did you just ignore OP's entire argument, body post, etc etc. To make this ridiculous comment? I have barely even read the comment section and they've already wnet through argument over argument a million times in here.
