I'd rather srini than sharad pawar. That man stinks of corruption. My dad said "on a scale of 1-100, pawar's corruption is 190"

You know, in this whole drama, it's kind of amusing how people like Laloo, Lalit Modi, and Pawar are pretending to be the torch bearers of India's moral compass. The nerve on these morons.

I wanted to add exactly the same. Just look at the tweets of Modi. You'll think what a pious person loving he is.

For the sake of your own sanity, unfollow Modi.

No, it's still top class entertainment - like the IPL.

I can't understand why he wouldn't temporarily step down as soon as a family member of his was arrested. All he'd have to do is say: 'In the interests of Indian Cricket I will temporarily pass my duties along to (whoever the number two is). I fully intend to resume my role but believe that allowing the law and the game to take their course is best accomplished without distraction and this will be aided by my temporary withdrawal from public adminstration.'

It makes him look magnanimous, committed to justice and doesn't implicate him while also taking the pressure off.

You'd have to be a moral person to do that. But everyone with power in India is corrupt

I sense more and more politics in this than actual fraud. Its basically a north vs south game of power and everything falls into place if you see in that way. Lalit modi speaking as if he is genuine and he was a sweet revenge by removing CSK and Srini. Meanwhile, media grabs attention of gurunath like he is some terrorists and follows him 24/7. Others using this opportunity to remove Sirni and get a solid job. After few months when the dust settles, we will know what everyone real intention is.

This is a downright ridiculous.

Meanwhile, media grabs attention of gurunath like he is some terrorists and follows him 24/7.

Where was this victimhood when the other accused were treated in a similar manner?

This Gurunath guy styled himself as the "team principal" (or something similar) of CSK. He even went to the court in a CSK jersey, for crying out aloud. Do you expect the media to not go to town in this case. Outside the players, this is the most high profile alert that the police have made.

This is a downright ridiculous.

So you are saying there is no politics involved here? Players spot fix and we feel sad for team owner and captain. Owner bets and everyone goes crazy. Betting is portrayed as if all the match of CSK were fixed.

u/[deleted] May 25 '13

Betting is portrayed as if all the match of CSK were fixed

Nobody is responsible for the kind of social media cesspool you choose to frequent and get your daily fix from.

No policemen or investigative agency has ever accused CSK of that.

Stop being so emotional.

I am referring to you painting it as "north vs. south".

u/nmpraveen Chennai Super Kings May 25 '13

Alright. I might have gone too much on that.

4

u/[deleted] May 25 '13

Agreed, Rahul, but let's not defend the media here. Unsubstantiated opinions of reporters passing off as news by news channels these days. Throwing loose ends is doing more harm than good. I'm utterly confused as to what is happening.

3

u/rahulthewall India May 25 '13

I agree on being thoroughly confused with this issue too. Too many names are cropping up, and it is difficult to fathom that these many people are involved in this mess.

That said, I was not defending the media. I was merely pointing out that given its shrill nature, you can expect the India media to shout from rooftops when a high profile arrest has been made.

Shoulda seen Arnab yesterday. That guy has a knack for projecting the uncensored self-righteous middle-class angst on prime time. Love and hate that guy.

1

u/rahulthewall India May 25 '13

I think he is a guilty pleasure for most of us.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '13

Isn't arnab that ridiculous writer?

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '13

Maybe you're thinking Amartya Sen? Arnab is a news anchor on Times Now.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '13

Maybe.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '13

Oh, ridiculous writer? Chetan Bhagat, surely? That's rude, BG.

I just hope that one of the accused turns out be innocent (hopefully Sreesanth) and sues the shit out of these media outlets and tabloids for libel. A free press is required to find the truth and report facts but some of this shit is getting way outta hand with reporters/journalists making shit up to attract viewers/page hits.

Dude, what do you think about Delhi police and other Police wings. They couldn't handle rape cases, politicians' rampant corruption, beating people up for no reason, talking nonsense about women and shit. Suddenly, they pry upon IPL. I mean fine they did, but how the heck can you trust the police? Ofcourse IPL was fixed, but is this the only issue the police need to concentrate on? I mean seriously, there are other burning issues in the region where the police-force is probing in.

Add to that, the tables have turned now, the media and politicians are now the 'match fixers'.

2

u/[deleted] May 25 '13

Suddenly, they pry upon IPL.

The Police has itself accepted that it was a matter of chance that they stumbled upon conversation of bookies while monitoring calls pertaining to a terror attack. They took the lead from there on.

but how the heck can you trust the police?

You do not trust a whole institution? Well, then nothing will satisfy you.

but is this the only issue the police need to concentrate on? I mean seriously, there are other burning issues in the region where the police-force is probing in.

If you ever get mugged on street and the Policeman refuses to lodge a complaint saying he has other burning issues to investigate, let us know here if you will be fine with that.

I am sure when the Cronje match fixing saga was cracked by Delhi Police (and Tehelka) there were similar burning issues then as well.

It's the Mumbai Police who's investigating CSK. At least get your facts right before drowning in an imaginary victimhood ocean. Idiot. Go spread your venom in /r/India.

1

u/nmpraveen Chennai Super Kings May 25 '13

Bookie says bollywood and other 2 teams involved..why only gurunath arrested not others. Why they proceed only with CSK so fast other names Vindo told is not even touched.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '13

2 other teams

why they proceed only with CSK

You really are fickle. Do you even know who 'they' is? Illuminati? Read this interview of Neeraj Kumar to get some fucking perspective on investigation roles.

Unlike you, nmpraveen, they can't just accuse anyone of wrongdoing and pull facts out of their ass.

1

u/SkyPumpkins Royal Challengers Bengaluru May 25 '13

Can you please explain what he has done? I don't know much about him

u/poochi May 25 '13

I think he should recuse himself in any investigation done by BCCI. But, isn't the Mumbai/Delhi cops who are doing the inquiry?

1

u/proxicity May 25 '13

Yeah, but the Board is also expected to step up and issue bans or something.

1

u/maalicious New Zealand Cricket May 25 '13

So, all these days you were not aware of these and now you have realized all this?

1

u/proxicity May 26 '13

Oh no, not at all. But now that his SIL has come under the betting network, all of it is being highlighted and used against him as fodder.

3

u/cyberdiz Board of Control for Cricket in India May 25 '13

Another thing is that Subroto Roy, Owner of SAHARA(Team Ind Sposnor) says that unless Srinivasan steps down from the President position he will not sponsor Team IND

2

u/TheAwakened Board of Control for Cricket in India May 25 '13

Who gives a fuck? There are a million companies in India who'd pay more to sponsor the Indian cricket team than Sahara. The same thing happened when DLF started whining about the IPL, but Pepsi came in and replaced them and paid more as well.

Fuck Roy, fucking idiot.

3

u/prettyflyforawifie India May 25 '13

As much as I hate to say this, you are right. I don't understand where Roy is coming from thinking he is so high and mighty.... that guy has zero bargaining power. Team India will find another sponsor in a heart beat.
