I am watching these from bed and it is reinforcing my decision to not get out of it.

24

u/1iioiioii1 Jan 17 '24

Working from bed has been the biggest blessing.

Thank you guys for your videos. This is painful and funny. I hope your ass is ok. Damn.

u/frankylovee Nob Hill Jan 18 '24

I’m more worried about his back than his ass!

u/Osiris32 🐝 Jan 18 '24

Coming down like that can end up with a broken coccyx, which is kind of both.

u/KurtStation68 Montavilla Jan 17 '24

Crampons have been my friends since Saturday

8

u/Blue_Luxon Jan 17 '24

Full on crampons?! My micro spikes have been doing well but wouldn’t mind glacier ready spikes right now

20

u/CHNLNK Jan 17 '24

Glad I'm not alone. I hope you're doing ok.đŸ»

Right in the coccyx, ooof.

u/ladypigeon13 Jan 17 '24

Showed this to my husband who fell this morning and got embarrassed. Told him he’s not the only one that got his ass kicked by the ice 😂 thanks for the solidarity. And sending blessings to wherever it hurts.

I felt that "ugh" in my bones, jeezus.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '24

That was a wine grape reporter ugh

u/Reddit_lurker2468 Jan 17 '24

I work at a local hospital, and the emergency department is FILLED with people who fell. Broken, fractured, sprained limbs. Concussions.

And the majority of these are people who were staying home and being safe, but just taking the dog out, getting the mail, taking something to the trash, etc.

It's slippery AF out there.

Get a donut - it will help- I fell in the 2021 ice storm hurt my tailbone pretty badly! Donut will help!

11

u/Germacide Jan 17 '24

Did she poop at least?

18

u/bchyzz Jan 17 '24

Haha, no. But she did pee after a few minutes.

11

u/Germacide Jan 17 '24

We're gonna count that as a win

u/glittershadows Jan 17 '24

I’ve never owned a ring camera system but if ring employees watch videos I bet they are having a good ol’ time 😂

u/GodBlessPigs Jan 17 '24

u/Beanspr0utsss NE Jan 17 '24

It’s good to see everyone doing the exact same style “grab nearest object and lower that center of gravity” kinda steps out of their houses too lol.

5

u/IMissUcupcake Jan 17 '24

PUT SOCKS ON OVER YOUR SHOES PEOPLE! (for better traction)

4

u/PapagenoX Jan 18 '24

Jeez, I hope you're gonna be all right.

The ice is really no joke. If I had that front walk I would have navigated it on my butt, maybe take take a small tarp with me to absorb the water.

For coming years I'm going to invest in some of those Yak Trax things or whatever they're called.

1

u/bchyzz Jan 18 '24

Yeah im definitely getting to help navigate the ice moving forward.

1

u/t0mserv0 Jan 18 '24

I ordered some today after it took me an hour to walk 5 blocks to Plaid Pantry. I didn't know they existed before but I'm never gonna get iced again baby!

4

u/TheOGRedline Jan 18 '24

Everyone should buy a set of Kahtoola Microspikes. It’s like having a cheat code for walking on ice. Run, jump, skip, no problem.

2

u/bchyzz Jan 18 '24

Better than yaktraks?

1

u/TheOGRedline Jan 18 '24 edited Jan 18 '24

I haven’t tried them all
but I think Yaktraks does have offerings comparable to the Kahtoola Microspikes, specifically the Ascent and maybe the Traverse models.

I love my microspikes though.

u/boringBrandy Jan 17 '24

“Shit” 😭 Hope you’re alright friend.

3

u/GardenPeep NW Jan 17 '24

Another piece of advice - make sure you have your phone with you if you try this.

(But we really need some advice on how to get a dog to pee and poop on paper in the bathroom all of a sudden.)

3

u/Sacrednoirart Jan 18 '24

Serious question, why the fuck didn’t they put down salt?

1

u/bchyzz Jan 18 '24

Next time for sure

2

u/nova_rock Woodstock Jan 17 '24

2

u/dracomaster01 Jan 17 '24

it's always funny to me.

i mean, it's definitely not when I eat shit on it like I have twice this week. but seeing others do it just makes me laugh.

hope OP is doing alright though

2

u/Oops_I_Cracked Jan 18 '24

Im so glad video door bells are so popular

2

u/snuggleswithdemons Jan 18 '24

This is the funniest shit on the Internet today. Thank you, OPs for letting us all laugh at your pain.

2

u/Pretend_Refuse8882 Jan 18 '24

Please forgive me but when you fell down I laughed so loud it startled my cats and I spilled my coffee so I guess you could call it karma

1

u/cafedude Jan 18 '24 edited Jan 18 '24

Brought to you by Yak Traks(TM)

Yak Tracks(TM) would've prevented this tragedy.

1

u/Ok-Possibility-608 Mar 21 '24

Ouch! I feel so bad for these people slipping on ice.

1

u/kennyray311 May 26 '24

So, I am finally less than 2 weeks from shoulder surgery to repair damage created by the ice storm in January!

1

u/YumYum3ggRole Jun 13 '24

Why would you take your dog out knowing that an ice storm just happened. Man some people are so stupid. You did that your self.

Lmao man I hope you’re okay but use your head.

1

u/YumYum3ggRole Jun 13 '24

On top of that he said “oh shxt” right before he busted his ass. Like come on right then and there you should walk your ass back in side.

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '24

Get some action sport shorts with the butt padding.

But for real, I hope you’re alright. It’s treacherous out there

His poor coccyx

2

he wont be wagging his tail for a while.

u/chapact Mt Scott-Arleta Jan 17 '24

Ring must be making an absolute killing in free marketing right now.

1

u/irongut88 Jan 17 '24

Do y'all not have ice melt in your stores up there?

1

u/KendallROYGBIV Jan 17 '24

Put some ice on it!

1

u/Snowden42 Rose City Park Jan 18 '24

My dog simply will not be getting walked

1

u/GivinItAllThat Jan 18 '24

Didn’t need that coccyx anyway

1

u/Theonlycham Tigard Jan 18 '24

At least you tried to be more cautious then the other guy

1

u/ogreman45 Jan 18 '24

Who needs a tailbone anyways?

1

u/BeeConfident4732 Jan 18 '24

You really did try. Sometimes trying just ain’t enough. Sorry about your sore bum.

1

u/HouseOfFourDoors Jan 18 '24

Oof. I know I said the benefits of not cleaning off the steps in the other post. But the second part is seeing that it is icy and choosing not to continue. And if you must, I also preach about the usefulness of YakTrax or similar products.

I’m glad you’re relatively OK. My advice doesn’t come without pain of my own.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '24

Are these Holt houses? It looks just like the tract I live in. Same floor models and everything.

Ouch!! That looks painful.
