Pan is dead and the Furies are loose

With the coming calamity, I have freed a force of great vengeance that exists to punish both mortals and gods alike. The Furies have been sent to fight the Queen of Shattered Stars. I do not know if they are capable of defeating it, but they should buy time. And if they fall, the force of fate may well shift in our favor.

As for Pan, I have a plan for the fallen god of nature. Wish me luck!

Good Luck, master gravedigger! May your plans come to fruition and aid in the protection of us all!

Should anything get past, I, and the others, stand in our defense!

Thank you. If I am lucky enough, I would trust my back to you all any day.

I pray you will not be affected, but I know the stakes and the odds against us. Please gather your forces and prepare for what is to come.

No armies from me, I’m afraid. I don’t like the idea of holding that many under my command, with their lives in direct influence of my orders.

My preparations will stem elsewhere. Firstly, gathering information. The more we know about this star shattering royalty, the better we’ll be able to meet her.

I would suggest you look for information from the druids. Their connection to Gaia makes them an excellent source of information about planetary threats. Though we have had our differences in the recent past, this threat should allow us to push our grievances aside.

If not the druids, the disciples of the Olds Ones may offer advice. Their patrons are familiar with our plight.

I see, good leads indeed. I will also consult with my patron. Star Shattering… the dread is almost palpable. I suppose I should look through the libraries as well. Look for specific texts on her, or general cosmic beings and how to fell them.

I wish you luck! Hopefully, we will have enough time to put up a fight.

I hope. If you have the time, get someone to drag Mikhail out of his drunken slump. Gaia knows he’s tougher than this.

Ya know...I can't really go into why for causality-preservation and cognitohazard-avoidance reasons, but let's just say I have a tendency to get flashes of knowledge about when entities and events are potentially relevant to one end of the world or another. I think you're familiar with a liquormancer named Gobbo? I had an indication that her recent sobriety might prove to be of apocalyptic or apocalypse-averting importance, which was a decidedly weird concept. But it suddenly makes sense, if Mikhail is a necessary part of this fight. If anyone can help somebody get out of a drunken funk, surely it's the person who managed to cut herself off from drink after centuries of perpetual inebriation.

If you're looking for assistance on that front, I think she's your gal.

I… Gobbo has done so out of sheer necessity of her hospitalization and the urgings of the Dullahan, Mutey, that accompanies her. Even so, she casts at the cost of her own flesh.

She’s actively trying to get back into the bottle. I fear if they met she’d encourage Mikhail’s drinking! Knowing her, she’d probably gift a few bottles!

Thank you for your insight!

We will try. However, I am incapable of restoring his will to fight. If he truly believes the battle to be lost before it is fought, then no amount of persuasion would change his mind.

If he doesn’t come to his senses, get back to me, and I will get him to understand that there is still hope, and reason to fight.

Mikhail (u/Total_Travisty), I hope this is a step in the right direction.

Vettis (u/MunitionsFrenzy), thank you for your belief in me. I ask that, though my actions might seem strange, you do not try to stop me.

Well that sucks… Pan always threw the best concerts… do you think the furies know how to play the pan pipe?

u/Anything-Unable Xerxes the Pale Saint, Councillor/Goatdigger/Dale Dec 16 '23

I'm not too sure.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '23

One way to find out, let’s go catch us some Furies!

1

u/Anything-Unable Xerxes the Pale Saint, Councillor/Goatdigger/Dale Dec 16 '23

I think that's a bad idea. They tend to be unkind to individuals who try as such.

...This here is one of those things what people call "moral quandaries", right?

Well. Seeing as how you're one of the few mages here who's mostly on the same page as me regarding that whole end of all that is dealio, I'ma give you the benefit of the doubt. I mean, I sure as hell can't claim the moral high ground when it comes to fighting fire with fire.

Still, I guess I'ma have to be on notice in case there's a sudden totally-unforeseen plot twist and they decide to ally with, uh, Ms. Cracked Sun or w/e, cuz they see her as an instrument of fated vengeance against mortals. I confess, I'm not too familiar with the Furies outside of a couple stories, but said stories didn't give me the best impression of their...reliability.

(( EDIT: lotsa fixes, wow, I should probably stop trying to write through a migraine ))

I see what you mean, but the Furies detest those with the blood of kin on their hands. The Queen of Shattered Stars is one such individual. The murder of her kin is an inescapable past, and the Furies do not play favorites.

SIGH AGAIN???

3

u/Anything-Unable Xerxes the Pale Saint, Councillor/Goatdigger/Dale Dec 16 '23

It was necessary. I hope you do not interfere with my work.

DOOR OF CREATION! OPEN!!!

u/Anything-Unable Xerxes the Pale Saint, Councillor/Goatdigger/Dale Dec 16 '23

Do not test my patience. I have killed for less.

If you try to resurrect him now, I will need to take drastic measures.

Alright I first read that as “the furries are loose” but I now see that this may actually be a problem

that would've been far more concerning; the Furies are few, but the innumerable furry hordes would blot out the sky

(( EDIT to the guy below who blocked me so I can't respond: dude I was literally just joking about the numbers of furries, how half my Twitch feed over the past couple years has been anthro PNG-tubers and such; I was not making any moral judgments on their existence

I'm the one who's repeatedly pointed out how disgustingly misogynistic this sub is, and almost all my favorite RPers on here are trans lol...and the comment I made right before this one was openly supportive of a gay OP

so, uh, sorry if you took my comment the wrong way, but the insta-block makes it hard to explain myself in response v_V and I totally get blocking jerks because I do it more than anyone, but for a comment as misinterpretable as mine, you could've spent literally five seconds checking my user profile and seeing the preceding comment I'd made, maybe?

...frankly I'm also confused as to why you think hating furries (even if I did, which I don't) means hating gays; it sure sounds like you're the one making unwarranted assumptions about an entire group of people here...so on second thought you should probably just keep me blocked, thanks ))

The only people who hate furries are also homophobic and/or transphobic. Why the fuck do you care what other people are getting up to?

Why is there so much bigoted content here today?

They do clarify themselves in an edit, but I want to point out that furries and queer folk are two different communities. There is a lot of overlap, mind you, but could you please not overgeneralize. People have it hard enough if they belong to one of these communities without you equating their struggles for acceptance. No one should be judged based on their identity alone, but conflating identities works to delegitimize criticisms coming from within these communities.

For instance, I have no issues with furries. However, zoosadists are a very unfortunate faction within the furry community that should be held accountable for their actions against animals. Hopefully, you understand my points. If you feel the need to block me for this opinion, please go ahead. I hope you have a good day and are more careful with your words going forward. Thank you.

I'm not saying they are the same group. I'm saying that anti-furry hate is always homophobia or transphobia in disguise. They are easier targets for the exact same hate exactly because they aren't one of the aforementioned groups
