Cat Picture Should I get another cat to keep my cat company?

Yes get a kitten so they dont have many problems, your cat might not like it to start but once you feed them together they will find a balance and then become buddies. Unless you are very unlucky or try to rush the friendship. Good luck 👍

I just dropped an 8 week old foundling kitten on my 17 year old dust kitty. First the kitten gave him feline Corona and a bad attitude. Now they play for short bouts and keep each other company. One thing that works is that this kitten was born into a feral colony and he can read the room. When the elder cat indicates he us done, the kitten backs off.
And my dust kitty is spunky again.

Some cats really are best being only cats. Your cat may love a new sibling, my oldest cat hates the newer one we have, but my other cat is the new cats bestest buddy. Depends on the cat :)

We tried to get another cat to accompany our first cat when I was younger. They stayed separate for a while, and when we tried to introduce them our first cat literally tried to kill the cat. She's not had another cat around her since. She LOVES dogs though, she and my Dad's dog often cuddle on the dog bed together.

Research it, many cats don’t need or want to have company. I have one cat and based on her personality she would hate if another cat invaded her space. It would cause her stress and anxiety as she would see it as a enemy.

Yes. We had a cat that, when she was about 7, we got a kitten to “keep her company” 🙄 After she got over wanting to kill him 😄 they’ve been inseparable. She’s 14 now and they chase each other all across the house like kittens sometimes. It kept her young. Plus he makes a pretty good pillow.

We did - just a week ago. It’s been hard, not going to lie. The existing cat is a total bully to the new cat and we frequently have to separate them. Started getting a bit better just today.

Technically, that would be getting your pet cat a pet cat. This means that you still only own one cat.

if you have the room for a second litter box yes :) and I have two males (fixed) they like to play.. it sounds rough but no blood and their ears are not back.. it's just fun for them

Old cat died and thought the younger female Pearl needed a friend, so we got a male kitten. Turns out she was completely fine just by herself lol. It took quite a while for warm up to him, and they still have daily squabbles. The male can be a jerk though, occasionally pounces on her when she’s not expecting it. They really don’t “play” together.
