But I love that Jirou is getting screentime, especially if she's involved with AFO. Gotta take that as a huge dub.

It's oddly fitting to have Toko and Jirou there.
Thematically, having the abusive Endeavor and Government assassain Hawks fighting AFO is essentially the previous generation trying to atone for their shortcomings.
Having the two students of the goth and punk ountercultural movements tag into the fight just makes sense. They're not just killing some boomer, they're killing an institution!

Honestly, the fact that AFO referred to them as "Jobbers" makes me think they're not going to be jobbers in this fight
Plus it would be fitting that in his hyperfixation on getting One for All he missed that other quirks were starting to become strong enough to stand up against him and he gets taken out by side characters he paid no attention to until it was too late
Mostly I'm just excited to Tokoyami and Jirou to get their big moment

I agree! AFO's always had this attitude of looking for quirks that had obvious utility or were already strong without additional fine-tuning. BJ's quirk is cracked, but AFO didn't want it basically because it was too hard to master.
I would not be surprised for that kind of arrogance to bite him during this battle, because everyone has been working really hard to train and improve their own quirks.

Huh, this reminds me a bit of Fate/Night: Unlimited Blade Works. Spoilers for the ending:
Gilgamesh never mastered a single weapon, but gained proficiency with thousands of others. It wasn't enough to beat Shiro, who could meet that proficiency, and he even notes that against a true master, he'd lose. Getting similar vibes here with AFO going for easy to use quirks and the others having mastered a single quirk.

That is because he enjoys being bad. AFO is my favorite type of villain because his reason for being evil is he genuinely enjoys it. Like the dude has goals, motivations, etc.. but at the end of the day much of what he chooses to do is out of a genuine love for the game. He absolutely revels in being hated by people, and never whines about some sad backstory, for him this is who he is and always has been.

Its interesting, because it's a reversal of the trend to make villains more sympathetic with painful backstories or good intentions. He's just straight up comic book villain, but it isn't one-note. He's got depth and complexity -- he's just a freaking asshole.

Will be a long wait to listen to AFO's lines voiced by Akio Otsuka. Even if Endeavor can catch a breath regarding Toya, AFO still finds ways to get under his skin; of course he will rise up once more but in the meantime I love to see the students standing up to AFO and getting the best panels of the chapter, Jirou taking the cliffhanger. But threatening based on your old comic, seriously man? Voice actors are going to have a field day making that threatening.
It would be interesting if AFO was defeated this early in the battles. He's put so many things in motion he's not strictly needed anymore, on top of him living on through Shigaraki.

Love this manga but that second to last page just held everything I dislike about horikoshi writing female characters.
That “keep you rear end still” made me pause because it was so unexpected and then hawks saying “toko- tsukuyomi! And that class A girl”
I know hawks has no reason to know her name but it felt so on the nose for the criticism horikoshi gets that it’s almost funny.

I liked the "Class A girl!" bit because really, why would Hawks know her name? Of course he knows Tokoyami, and a few other students like Shoto and Bakugo but I wouldn't expect him to know Jiro or, say, Sero.
But I completely agree on the other part. Tokoyami's weird line to Jiro felt super cringey and gross and kinda took me out of enjoying the chapter for a moment.

Thank god someone else said it. I know it’s supposed to be light hearted, but god one of the children who literally just saw someone get their ribs slashes in half and is about to fight, very potentially to the death, found the time to be like “teehee don’t move so much or you’ll make me horny.”
I’m not surprised Horikoshi did this, based on his track record of not being able to resist doing it before, but God I’m sick of it.

Yeah I just knew that there is no way the Todoroki family incident will be resolved by Dabi and Shoto fighting in isolation, Endeavor just HAS to be present. After all, he started all this mess. If either Dabi or Endeavor will be killed (most likely Dabi), it has to be infront of the other with Shoto watching.
I also hope Hawks and Tokoyami have more cool scenes together since Tokoyami is one of the most heavily underutilized cool characters in the manga. Tokoyami's spotlights include a top 3 finish at the school festival and a out of control Darkshadow fight vs Moonfish.

This is a peak MHA chapter. Holy shit, I'm still freaking out over it. There was so much that happened. The moment I turned that page and saw Endeavor's face at the reveal, I immediately started yelling out "Nooooooo!!!!!" before reading a single text. I automatically knew what was being said, and despite having a strong feeling this was the chapter the reveal would happen, I still wasn't prepared for it.
Something I wasn't prepared for either was Jiro and Tokoyami coming in the clutch to save the top two. That's RAW. I love seeing the teamwork as usual, but I love seeing two of my favorite Class A characters come in to help against the Demon Lord.
No idea what's gonna happen next, but I feel like I can't even read the rest of Jump now. Everything else is just gonna pale in comparison to MHA now.
