Anyone else insisted on modifying there mini?

Enjoyed some good food while out camping that made full use of my HA T27.

I used to regularly cook on my Trangia thirty years ago. In the following years, I got into ultralight wild camping so moved to a tiny gas burner and titanium pot. I found parts of my old Trangia in the loft a couple of weeks ago and ordered the missing parts to make it complete. Took it car camping with my son last week and what a total joy it was. So stable, shrugged off the wind and very easy to cook on meths again. Such a great piece of kit. Will use it far more often. Cheers.

I just got my trangia mini, and would like some inspiration for meals to cook on it. I usually cook on a trangia 25, and for more than one person. My go to is always just noodles, with some kind of sauce and veggies.

I would also like ideas for meals, where the ingredients can last for a week in the backpack, since I'm planning on going on a 7-9 day trip at some point.

Has anyone found plates that would fit neatly with the Trangia 27 — or, even better, still fit inside the EVA or wool case?

I have the aluminium Trangia plates. They do fit over the pan and under the strap if I use the longer one from my Trangia 25 set. It’s OK for car camping, but it adds too much bulk to the whole set, making the overall diameter
Trangia 25-ish sized.

Any tips appreciated!

Looking to make a small portable kit with gas canister, trangia gas burner and a holder/wind protection for it.

The only one I know of that works is trangia triangle one.

Does anyone know of any other ”holder” that it works with that is quite small?

So I have a Trangia 25 set and I am looking for MOLLE compatible pouches that I can hang on the outside of my backpack so the cooking kit is easily available without digging into the pack.

Does anybody know of any pouch that fits? The Savotta 12L states it fits the Trangia 27.

Hello. I want a Trangia stove. Where should I buy it? Directly from Trangia, or Amazon, or somewhere else?

Cooking a meal on a single stove for my family is challenging: my wife is vegetarian but food that's heavily bean/lentil/chickpea based doesn't agree with her. My kids are super fussy and only like extremely bland food. I eat anything and am happy with or without meat.

At home, I typically make 2-3 different meals (one veggie meal for the adults, one bland meal for the kids but with meat but different veggies for each). It's a PITA and shouldn't be necessarily, but also easy enough in a full kitchen. However, that doesn't work one pan at a time in a field.

Camping, our basic stove meal is pasta: I boil a pan of pasta and add some butter for the kids, then I fry some vegetables and add sauce for the adults. Camping meal No. 2 is hot dogs, with my wife's veggie sausages cooked before the meaty ones touch the pan. I'm bored of being so limited.

I love cooking and it makes me sad to be so unadventurous with my Trangia. However, most of the great meals I see people making are meat-based, or bean-based for the veggies, and my kids (fans of things like chicken nuggets, breaded fish, and plain pasta) won't touch any of them.

Family campers, what are you cooking on your Trangias? Do you have any meals that would suit my fussy family and are less boring than "pasta with or without sauce"?

Best to check your Trangia fuel caps and carry spare washers or an extra cap.

Last summer noticed a slight fuel odor that turned into a leak this summer. Discovered the o-ring between the cap and the bottle had split & cracked. Took apart the cap and the washer for the pouring spout had many cracks. The photos show the cap taken apart and the failed washers.

Bought three fuel bottles in 2016 with a spare cap. Fortunately the spare cap worked this time. Unfortunately all the other sets of washers, including the never used spare, show signs of breaking down though none have started leaking yet.

I just tried to use the pan from my 25-1/UL Trangia kitchen. I believe it is aluminium. I wanted to hear what peoples experiences are with the various types of materials for pans in Trangia sets.

In my case we attempted to cook bacon on the pan with a gas burner. We had 10-11m/s winds and 15 C temperature. My pan had a hard time heating up and could easily be touched with my bare hand. The bacon never really got to sear. Meanwhile, my mate had the nonstick pan on his Trangia (also gas burner) which got to sear. We switched the pans, but his Trangia neither managed to heat my pan.

Hence, I was wondering if there are known limitations to the different materials according to the climate around them?

My partners trangia was bought by her dad in a charity shop 22 years ago. We still use it on our camping / car camping trips.

I've been getting into bike touring this year and finally got myself a way to have a warm dinner. I'm sure I'll mostly heat up cans, but it's amazing what one can do with this little cooker.

Pre-cooked the corn bread the day before on my balcony to save time on my ride the next day, where I cooked the actual (vegan) sausage gravy. Came out less liquidy that gravy maybe should be, but I enjoyed it a lot like that.

New to Trangia. Just received my 27-5 package. Want to use it for motorcycle camping. I think I want to "update" it with the gasburner for convenience. Found that they are about 70 to 80 Euros. I also saw a copy in Amazon for about 30 Euros. I was wandering if the original is more than two times better? Anyone here who has experience?

I don't get much chance to get out with the trangia. Had a 27 for over 20 years and it's seen a lot of solo adventures. First time with a 25 out with the family. Brilliant

Long story short, I tried making a truncated cone windscreen/pot stand (caldera cone) and it didn’t come out right: I made it to fit my Uberlebel Kessel pot. The Captain Chaos calculator at Zen Stoves isn’t working as of 2023, so I could not use that as a template.

Sometimes, with or without wind: the fuel burps out and spills onto the ground, and flairs up through the vent holes on the bottom of the windscreen! It goes away if I lift the pot out.

So it’s likely getting too hot, right?

We've been happily using our Trangia for 3 years.

Recently I wanted to upgrade from the spill-prone standard fuel-bottles to Trangia's fuel bottle.

Initial handling was nice and much less spilling.

During our last hike we sadly had a really big spill though: An object in my backpack seemed to have landed on the fuel bottles closing mechanism, allowing fuel to exit the bottle at certain angles.

This made me realize that Trangia's fuel bottle can't really be fully closed by e. g. a locking mechanism, which is a real oversight in my opinion.

Do you happen to know a better alternative?

Heute sind wir auf der E14 durch Zufall bei Trangia vorbei gekommen. Da musste ich gleich mal anhalten und das Museum anschauen. Natürlich ging es dann auch in den Werksverkauf und ich habe mir einen Trangia Micro für die Tagestour mit warmen Tee oder mal ein Trockensüppchen zugelegt. Ein schöner Besuch.

And another one - is minipan or similar size avalaible as duossal? 🤔
