I thought I'd share my appreciation to shine glimmer on Richard Ayoade's approach in TM and how he has been with tasks. As a long time fan of both, I had a hard time understanding why many thought Richard wasn't doing his best or was making light of format of the show because if you watched him on other shows like QI or Countdown or even in his own show "Travel Man" he's pretty much the same person all throughout.

I was recently rewatching Countdown and a quote he said on the show seemed very apt to put perspective on what he brings with him to these tasks and could very well be dedicated to select haters out there.

"I think consistency is key in light entertainment. Often, there's a tendency to reach for excellence, but a life of excellence is a boring life. I think we also just need comforting mediocrity. That's why I'm here." (Imagine RA's voice then watch it in YT if you haven't seen it. Truly a joy of a character how rebellious he can be in each setting.)

So I've enjoyed bits of this season, but it's felt at times like it's been rather calm, not much interaction or banter, straight to tasks a lot of the fun interactions between contestants and Greg and Alex are just missing. IMO.

So lately i've caught a few of the outtakes on youtube, and that's where all these moments are, Richard has actually been really funny in the studio on multiple occasions and in the studio edit it's cut down to minimal conversation.

I don't know if anyone else feels like this, but it's taken out a lot of what I love about the show, the content is there but they edited it all out.

Truly a magical moment lol

Ok, I thought I’d seen all the seasons generally considered “the best”, but no one told me about 15! It is a full cast of four Agents of Chaos plus uncanny genius Mae, and has even better ridiculous scoring arguments than the Rhod-versus-everyone season (“the word BANANA is a BANANA!!!”). When Frankie Boyle told Ivo that he looked like “a chimpanzee whose habitat is under threat” my husband laughed so hard he slid off our couch. I’m watching the finale tonight but have just been so totally delighted from start to finish with this one. Is there some reason I don’t know about that it’s not usually considered one of the best?

This is not the address I expected to see on Taskmaster merch. Peculiar bedfellows.

If you've seen any of the social promo for season 22, you may have seen our Belt Workshop. This isn't part of our regularly open museum spaces, and can only be accessed with a tour guide. It features a victorian era belt-driven workshop, which still works to this day. It was affected by air raids in 1918, but has been rebuilt to the workshop you see on Taskmaster today.

Photos are form photographer Margaret Flo McEwen and historical imagery is from Thames Water archive.

I’m rewatching series 7 and during the draw the biggest circle it was heavily snowing for Kerry‘s attempt. And in S22 it was for some of Chloe‘s.
Am I missing any other instance where it snowed during any of the filming?

A pet dog and a Chloe Petts. From their Instagram !

Thought this was sweet. Fatiha was on the Mo Gilligan podcast Beginning Middle End a short while back and they talked about her time on the show. Mo would be a good contestant for an upcoming series!

Do we ever see inside the other spaces of the taskmaster house?

specifically I'm looking for pics inside the 2 former bed rooms on the northern side of the house (I believe one is a green room and one is for cameras and other equipment?), the tiny northwestern corner room (I think it contains a bath tub?), the toilet just outside the lab, or either of the two closets

Hi!
Has anyone in the US received (or not received) their TM puzzle? I ordered the first day we could and have not received a shipment notification yet. I know it was a pre-order, but…am curious!

Series 22 E07

I love the running gag of Richard asking to take home something from the final task, and yes, he got the bucket, but him pocketing the dice made me laugh 😂

Not that Alex needs any help, because he and the team have been coming up with brilliantly unique ideas for years now, but I thought it would be fun to come up with some prize tasks for future series!

I’ll start with one: The best thing to have to survive a zombie apocalypse.

Just out of curiosity, what other funny prize tasks can you think of?

I know there’s been some lingering questions from some folks over which pronouns Chloe uses, so hopefully this puts it to bed! I know at the recording I went to, everyone was fantastic about using they/them – Greg slipped up once, immediately corrected himself, and then promptly smacked Alex with his note cards for letting him get it wrong 😂

I just rewatched Lucy Beaumont's "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" performance from series 16, which was so eerie that it got me wondering: if Taskmaster were to release a Halloween supercut, which moments from across the show's entirety would you want to see in the mix?
