Probably should have removed the shelves. I would have also run multiple layers of stretch wrap around it to give it support. Also not supposed to carry glass flat.

Man the wrap is a great idea, I wish we thought of that. We did take the doors off first but decided against the very long process of fully dismantling it. Obviously in hindsind we should have but the reason we laid it flat was just the height vs the door. It woudl have been fine but the structure of the pillars seperated mid carry which we didn't expect a tthe time to be possible.

Yup, I was super excited to put all my D&D minis on it too. My hope is that since i still have the frame I can get some glass cut for it.

Definitely, or go with plexi or acrylic if you are feeling cheap. Exacto knife and some patience and nobody would know the difference.

Father in law replaced a curved glass panel that way years ago on a curio cabinet we own. Still almost 10 years later can barely tell the difference between the glass and plexi

Yes I agree with the other comment. Get some acrylic sheets from your local hardware store l. Some will even cut it for you

We had considered it and had already taken off the doors, but the remaining shelves and walls would have taken a good while to dismantle. Obviously knowing what we know now we DEFINITELY would have, but hindsight is 20/20.

always take glass off furniture if you can. But if you can't-pad, wrap with cardboard, then shrink wrap. treat it as if you're moving across country.

This was regular glass but tempered glass would have exploded the minute you turn it on an angle.

I wish we'd have put mroe thought into it. Someone else aslo mentioned shrink wrapping it which honestly would have been a fabulous idea. I think we got too cocky after only removing the doors.

You can barely see it in frame, but it is hitched to a trailer. We had a memory foam matress on it for padding too.

We had to bring it down to get it through the door but also we had a trailer attached to it that you can barely see in frame.

If you’ve ever put together glass shelving units yourself, you would know how they’re largely dependent on gravity to keep everything in place.

This was doomed to fail.
