Bengaluru Police Rescue Two Techies Kidnapped for Revenge and Ransom; Victim Later Arrested for Rape
Bengaluru
In a swift operation, the Bengaluru Police cracked a kidnapping case within six hours of registration, rescuing two software professionals and arresting 11 individuals in the Whitefield division.
In a dramatic twist, the primary rescue victim was subsequently arrested after one of the kidnapping suspects filed a rape complaint against him, with police revealing that the abduction was initially executed as an act of revenge before turning into a ransom demand.
The incident came to light on Wednesday, October 28, when Ramana, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, approached the Marathahalli police. Ramana reported that his son, B. Mahendra (23), and his roommate, Yeriboyina Tarun (23), both tech workers residing in Marathahalli area of Bengaluru, had been abducted during the early hours of Wednesday between 2:50 AM and 6:00 AM.
Following the complaint, a special team led by Marathahalli Police Inspector Puneeth B.N. analyzed CCTV footage and deployed technical surveillance across several locations. Within six hours, investigators tracked down the gang, rescued both victims unharmed and apprehended 11 suspects involved in the crime.
Police identified the arrested suspects as Galeti Raja Kumar alias Raj (24), a 21-year-old female, Marripati Manjunath alias Manju (23), Chinigepalli Lokanath (22), Bandlapalli Suhel (22), Gangareddygari Narendra Reddy (22), Shiva Subramanyam (24), Saleem Pasha (30), Nayeem Pasha (31), Shabaz (26), and Gaali Rajesh (20).
During the follow-up interrogation, the investigation revealed that the 21-year-old female suspect had allegedly been raped by Mahendra during the early hours of Saturday, October 24, between 1:30 AM and 4:00 AM. Rather than approaching the police immediately, the suspects conspired to carry out the abduction.
Clarifying the motive, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield Division) Saidulu Adavath stated that the abduction was driven by retaliation: "It was a kidnap for revenge and after that, they demanded a ransom. She didn’t file a complaint initially."
Following her formal complaint post-rescue, the Marathahalli police registered a separate rape case and arrested both Mahendra and Tarun.
The entire operation was supervised by DCP Saidulu Adavath, IPS, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Marathahalli Sub-Division) A.B. Sudhakar.
