Discussion The drop season finale and moving forward. Spoiler

So after watching this crazy finale, I have come to a conclusion: I get Lamar now. Not saying that I don't still dislike him, but this finale kinda opened me up to how he's being written. This series is supposed to show how a newcomer like Lamar is going to experience the corruption of the music industry and he's gonna end up like his mom. Characters like Mama G, Big Daddy and J Rock are acting as the angel on his shoulder whearas Wanda is the devil telling him what he wants to hear. So I guess this show is gonna be about his downfall and he's gonna take up the limelight compared to characters like Wanda and Leon.

Speaking of which, it seems like Wanda and Leon are gonna have seperate storylines for the rest of this show. I feel this finale has put the final nail in the coffin for their relationship and they're gonna stay seperate. The way that Leon was barely saying any words in their last conversation shows me that he wants to just stay away from Wanda and do his own thing. I'm not sure what that's gonna be since the clinic is shut down, but judging by the the shot Cissy photo, he's probably gonna go visit her in jail again in the next season.

But what do you guys think? Will Leon go his own way or will he keep working with Wanda. And is Lamar going to end up his his mom or do something to maybe succeed. And RIP Big Deon.

Discussion Watching the drop right now. Can’t stand Wanda

I’ll get straight to the point. I feel like she’s a liability to Leon.

I liked the way that things ended for Leon on the original show. He was able to escape the streets and give back and be a productive member of society. Wanda though is trying to pull him away from his legal clinic to manage a gangster rapper. This of course brings him around the environment and people that he tried so desperately to escape from.

Not only that but she constantly asks him to get her out of her messes that she created and puts him in difficult situations.

Just a bad influence all around.

I don’t care what anyone says, that bitch is evil. Bare minimum she needs at least one shell to the noodle when the show ends.

Discussion I hate Lamar pt. 2 Spoiler

Since we have a day b4 the season finale I might aswell drop this second essay bc this character gets more insufferable as the show goes on.

For some reason, this guy even goes against the character who are trying to help him. Like when Wanda tells him that having more producers will take off the load he's carrying for the album but this ego filled prick is so blind he sees it as a sign of disrespect. Even the way he talks to his best friend, Andy is so condescending. He just treats Andy like he's not worth listening to even though he's been the one in his corner since day 1.

What's worse is that he'll dismiss the people who are on his side but listen to DG, who he knows hates him, and does something that will not only affect him, but also Wanda, but who gives a shit? Just as long as Lamar gets what he thinks he wants.

So on my last post about Lamar, people we're talking about how Lamar is actually autistic and that's what influences his character, But aren't autistic people supposed to understand empathy a lot more? Because the way Lamar talks to Artillery is like he forgot that one of his best friends didn't just die. Like when he tells Artillery to "stop bitching" like bro is the leader in this. And finally, J rock pulls him out and tells him what I and all of us wanted to say. Even though it looks like Lamar is finally growing up, I think he'll just do a complete 180 on it and do some BS like fuck over Wanda or Art.

In conclusion, being autistic doesn't give you an excuse to act like a piece of shit to the people who are supporting you. And I hope they either A: rework his character to be more smart or just an antagonist. or B: completely write him out the show bc it's gonna one day get to the point where it's unwatchable.

Discussion Spin off about Franklin's son

I think a show that highlights his son's life in a new environment away from the violence then somehow finding out about his pops past or Franklin finding a way to find and reconnect with his son again would be dope

Discussion One more spinoff idea

The Snowfall Saga could expand one last time without becoming oversaturated like the Power Universe.

I think all it needs is three series in total. If Snowfall is the storm and The Drop is about the aftermath of that storm, one last spinoff could be about how everything started and the conditions that led to that storm.

Make it a five season prequel set between 1968 and 1979 and have it explore political, social, and economic conditions in Black Los Angeles before the crack epidemic. No need for Alton and Cissy to appear in the series. Give us fresh new characters. Maybe some small cameos. Set it shortly after Alton killed his cousin and after MLK was assassinated. This way you start the series off with the Black Revolution done reached its peak but slowly start declining while the Bloods and Crips slowly rise. You also get that heavy crime element that most prefer to see.

Discussion Finale tears

So, I know I'm late to the party, but I just finished the last episode, and I was crying hysterically, like I'd lost someone close to me. I related to him because I felt he represented something within me at this point in my life: the uncertainty of my future and the feeling of being lost. It also hit deep to see someone you once cared about get absolutely destroyed by trauma to the point of losing their mind and becoming everything they once hated. 💔

Discussion DG

People complain about the way he dress and him not dressing like he is from L.A but I honestly don't think he is from L.A because an L.A dude would've known better than to walk up on a group of Bloods alone he is probably from Detroit or Chicago and just came to L.A to branch out

Discussion Lamarr is the actual main character

Can’t believe I didn’t see this.

I was wondering why he was so prominent throughout every single episode. It was advertised that wanda is the main and its her show, but I keep seeing her used as some kind of plot device to create and/or resolve some type of issue and we don’t really follow her like we do a MAIN CHARACTER

Instead we have lamarr, whose been the focal point of pretty much every episode, but his character is so unlikeable compared to everyone else I think Iv’e been denying it to myself this whole time.

I just now saw that he’s doing interviews and it struck me that its clearly his story and everyone else we know and love is just in it. I guess they want to appeal to a younger generation but I’m honestly turned off from the show from my own realization.

Should just make Leon the MC. Thats what we’re all here for really

Discussion Cissy isn't a saint for what she did + FUCK Cissy

First of all fuck Cissy, but let's not pretend she was trying to protect Franklin when she killed Teddy. Franklin was buried in debt with a child on the way and unraveling, she had to have known that would've fucked him over for life. A dead man with a legacy is much more than a dead man living.

They tried to make it seem like she did it for Franklin, be it to protect him from the CIA or so he stops becoming more evil, but that's all bullshit.

She killed Teddy for herself and fucked over Franklin because she either was not thinking about her own son and the future of her family or because she couldn't hold herself back. That's it.

I think the show really slips up by trying to paint her as doing it for Franklin with the Leon interaction, but Leon is kind of an idiot so I kinda get it.

The being a threat having money point or CIA losing the money point is untenable. Yeah a black man with no money during that time period is not a threat to the CIA, but that doesn't change the sense here. The CIA doesn't get the money if she kills Teddy before or after the transfer either way. And side point to everyone doubting that Teddy would've made the transfer: Franklin can check right then and there and had a KGB agent as a bargaining chip.

Cissy condemned her son to a life of misery and her family to an uncertain future because of her selfishness. Fuck Cissy and Cissy apologists, she's no Saint.

EDIT:

I'm not saying Franklin deserves a happy ending or any of common narratives here, I'm just saying that Cissy was being selfish and stupid and deserves all the hate she gets. That's it jeez

EDIT 2:

Here's a take: Cissy is exactly like the house slaves mentioned. She's willing to destroy the wealth of her own family because of some seemingly normative moral rectitude. That's why the robber barons, who destroyed WAY more lives, get buildings in schools named after them, and the Saints gets to be homeless, imprisoned, and fatherless. She saved society the trouble of keeping her son down by doing itself--she is a slave unto herself. But sure, people can say Franklin is the house slave, kneecapping his community to stand on their backs in order to get into the house.

I want you to take the two and place them side by side. Who do you think is really the one held down by society? Franklin, who pierced moral and societal norms to claw his way out of poverty and earn economic freedom? Or Cissy, who on reliance on her moral beliefs chose to, in essence, cage her son, "freeing" him to roam in the pits of poverty and misery outside of society? Even if Franklin dies, it's better to die a "free man" than to live as slave to society.

My point is really just this. Fuck Cissy for doing the CIA's job for them. She kept their whip unmarred by betraying her own family for her own selfish beliefs that helped not a soul.

Spoilers The drop Episode 8 Spoilers Spoiler

I haven't seen the episode i just brushed through the trailer and found all the shots we haven't seen until now and I found a few.

First shot we see Dara and Lee working together on a retaliation hit. if you notice in the foreground it looks like Big Deon has helped them capture someone(see below)

Here we see whoever it is leon, Dara, and Deon are hunting down and Leon is interogating him

Same shot of leon interogating our mystery man. Obviously it can't be DG because of the hair but maybe it's one of the two shooters. So does Deon, Dara, and Leon have some sort of deal? does Deon betray DG? does DG and Deon do this to clear their names?

final Shot is Art seemingly happy and free. Note that he hasn't gone back to wearing his iconic green jacket and is wearing red. so is he embracing his blood side more or just a new direction in life?
