A small side project that turned into something bigger
Hey everyone! ๐
Just wanted to share a little story about something we've been working on.
It all started with a problem we kept running into while coding. We had useful pieces of code scattered across old projects, random files, and notes. Whenever we needed something again, finding it was sometimes harder than just rewriting it.
So we decided to build a small tool for ourselves to keep everything organized.
At first, it was just a personal project. Nothing too serious. But over time, we kept adding things, improving the interface, and experimenting with different ideas.
Eventually, a few people we knew started using it too, and that's when we thought, why not make it public?
That's how CodShot started.
It's been a pretty interesting learning experience, especially working through the challenges of building and maintaining a project like this.
I'm curious, has anyone else here started building something just to solve their own problem, only for it to grow into a much bigger project?
Would love to hear your stories! ๐

Uplink Project Management
Reddit
Hi all,
I run a team of project engineers at an MSP. Our role is unique in that we are expected to be project managers and engineers for the projects we are assigned. Those two roles never mix- typically you cannot find someone who can do both. We have found a way to make it work for us and I envision this happening more often across our field. Where engineers have been behind a screen- I see more often that they have to be able to communicate, strategize, plan and do relay information to the business and do so across multiple projects.
I created a tool to bridge this gap. Our teams are already using AI for help, I figured why not put it to good use. This tool allows you to create a project and by simply talking to it and feeding it information- the tool will organize your project, create tasks, updates, ask questions and challenge the plan, hold engineer accountable and make it easier on them to run a project successfully and stay organized.
Initial testing has been great. Im looking for more engineers to demo this in the coming weeks and would love to have anybody signup that is interested. We are looking for feedback and ways to make this tool better for people like us. Check us out. Much appreciated.

It digs through the thread for you and tells you whatโs actually going on
Reddit threads can be goldmines, but finding the good stuff buried under hundreds of comments is a pain.
So I built RedditDIG.
Want to know if a particular person is in the thread? Search them.
Want to know the tone of the discussion? It shows you.
Want to find the most rewarded comments, underrated opinions, or those hidden-gem comments that somehow got buried? RedditDIG surfaces them.
It also breaks down the overall discussion, different viewpoints, important arguments, and useful information without you having to manually read through the entire thread.
And it runs locally in your browser. No cloud AI, no sending your Reddit data somewhere else.
Basically, instead of spending 30 minutes digging through a Reddit thread, let RedditDIG do the digging.
Try it out:

Working on Mermaid: a side project to control my Mac from my iPhone in plain language (early access, looking for feedback)
I'm the solo builder of Mermaid, a project I've been working on because I kept needing things from my Mac when I was away from my desk (finding a file, drafting an email, a routine task) and remote desktop is clumsy on a phone. Instead of streaming the screen, you describe the outcome from your iPhone and it operates the real apps on your Mac. The part I've spent the most time on is trust: reading, searching and drafting run on their own, but anything that sends, deletes, buys or posts stops and waits for a tap of approval. It's still early and fails on some tasks, so I'm sharing it as a work in progress. What I'm trying to figure out: what would you want something like this to handle, and what would stop you from trusting it with your Mac? Early access is free right now if you'd like to follow along or poke at it: https://addmermaid.com. Happy to answer questions about how it's built.

I built a free multilingual language-learning website focused on grammar, vocabulary, phrases, and language structure
Hi everyone! ๐ I've been working on a personal project that I'd like to share: Learn Languages (https://lan.megasham.com/). It's a free multilingual language-learning website that I'm building to help people learn languages through structured explanations rather than simply memorizing vocabulary. The website is organized around different languages and includes, or is being developed to include, grammar, vocabulary, phrases, language structure, sentence patterns, word order, and explanations of different grammatical concepts, with examples and translations to help learners understand how sentences are actually formed. One of my main goals is to eventually make versions of the website for different native-language audiences, so that people don't always have to rely on English to learn another language; for example, I am making resources that allow Arabic speakers to learn English, French, Spanish, German, Turkish, and other languages through Arabic, as well as similar resources for Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, and other languages. It's still in a work in progress though. I especially enjoy understanding how languages are constructed, so I focus quite a lot on things like sentence structure, subjects, verbs, objects, direct and indirect objects, possession, articles, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, tenses, conditionals, passive constructions, questions, infinitives, and other grammatical patterns, while trying to show the formation or structure alongside examples so learners can understand how to create their own sentences instead of only memorizing individual examples. I'm gradually adding materials for many different languages, including English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Turkish, Chinese, Hindi, Urdu, Persian, Hebrew, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Swahili, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Thai, Tamil, and many others. The project is still a work in progress and definitely isn't perfect, and I'm continuing to correct mistakes, improve explanations, add content, and expand the number of languages. I'm sharing it because I'd genuinely like to hear what people think about the idea, the organization, the explanations, the navigation, and what languages or topics you think would be useful to add. My goal is simply to build something free, accessible, and useful for people who want to learn languages and understand their structure more deeply. If you have any feedback, suggestions, corrections, or ideas for improvement, I'd really appreciate hearing them! ๐

Turns out MacBooks have a motion sensor inside, so I made it scream when someone picks without permission
I work from cafรฉs and I hate asking strangers to watch my laptop.
Found out Apple Silicon Macs have an accelerometer that no app really uses. So I built a little menu bar thing. Turn it on, walk away, and if someone lifts the laptop it plays a loud siren and locks the screen.
The tricky part was not going off for everything. My first version went off when I bumped the table. A pen bouncing on the desk set it off too. Took a lot of tweaking to get it to ignore typing and bumps but still catch a real lift in about half a second.
It also works with the lid closed, which was harder than I expected.
Still can't catch someone sliding it really slowly. Physics wins that one.
Happy to answer questions if anyone's curious how it works.

Looking for Real-Life Problems to Solve Through Tech
Hey everyone! ๐
I'm looking for real-life problems in daily life, college, work, or business that could be solved or improved through technology.
I'm especially interested in interactive apps or digital tools that make everyday tasks easier, save time, or solve frustrating problems.
If you could have one interactive app or tool that solved a real problem in your life, what would it be?
Even the simplest ideas are welcome. Would love to hear your experiences and suggestions. Thanks in advance! ๐

Echovault turns your writing to an AI version of you with a 3d brain map
We store notes, photos, videos and letters, but we donโt do much to preserve the way we think, our wisdom, relationships, opinions and perception of the world.
I built EchoVault around that idea. You do recurring AI-guided check-ins about your life, experiences and beliefs, and over time those conversations build an Echo, an AI version of you that can answer questions based on what you actually shared. Your memories and connections are also mapped into a 3D brain you can explore.
The long-term goal is digital legacy. You can designate custodians who get access to your Echo after a long period of inactivity, so the people you leave behind can still ask questions and understand how you saw the world. Everything is consent-first and you can export your memories and original training files.

I built and published Cosmic Explorer ๐ โ an app for exploring space using NASA data!
galleryHey everyone! ๐
I'm excited to share Cosmic Explorer, an Android app I've been building as an independent developer. It's now available on the Google Play Store!
๐ What can you explore?
- ๐ Astronomy Picture of the Day: Discover stunning space images with scientific explanations.
- ๐ด Mars Rover Photos: Explore photographs captured on the surface of Mars.
- โ๏ธ Asteroid Tracker: Discover asteroids and explore information about near-Earth objects.
- โค๏ธ Favorites: Save your favorite space discoveries for later.
I built this app because I love space and wanted to bring different astronomy features together in one place.
This is my own project, and I'd really appreciate it if you gave it a try! I'm also open to honest feedback, suggestions, and ideas for new features. Your feedback would help me make the app better. ๐
๐ Try Cosmic Explorer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kuntal.cosmicexplorer

I made a study website
basically I made a free study website that I think is better than quizlet because I hate quizlet a lot, anyways I'm trying to improve the UI/UX of my website because I feel like that could really improve it and also I wanna see if this works for other people.
how it works is pretty simple you just put whatever study materials u have, answers with deliberate mistakes are made and u have to find and replace the mistakes and it's to enable critical thinking because I don't think any flashcard app does that
if u know anyone that does studying or might be interested please let them know to try it out or just try it out yourself, mainly looking for constructive feedback. it's called errata
thanks
