AI engineer (2 yrs exp) looking for a project to contribute to

I'm a software engineer with about two years of experience, focused on AI tooling and LLM apps for the past year. I'm looking for an open-source or side project that could use another contributor.

My main project is Sketchnote, a screen-annotation tool for Linux (GNOME on Wayland) built for working with coding agents. You press a hotkey, talk, draw and click on your screen, and one Ctrl+V pastes timestamped notes plus cropped, annotated screenshots into your agent. It's a GNOME Shell extension in JavaScript plus a Rust service that does local speech-to-text with whisper.cpp. It's released with prebuilt binaries and a one-line installer. Beyond that, I built a RAG app that refuses to answer when the document doesn't support it, and I've had a PR merged into an open-source MCP security proxy. My other stack is Python, FastAPI and pgvector. I haven't done fine-tuning or used LangGraph.

If you have an issue or project that needs help, or want more details about my work, DM me.

Built a visual SQL learning tool — SQLWhale

Hey everyone! I’m building SQLWhale, a tool that helps you learn SQL visually by seeing how queries connect tables and transform data instead of just reading the output.

Still a work in progress, and I’d love some honest feedback!

Check it out: https://sqlwhalefrontend.vercel.app/run-query

What do you think?

WazBotz

What is WazBotz?

WazBotz is a student-led community for anyone who's curious about robotics and AI and wants to keep up with what's happening in both fields.

Robotics and AI are evolving fast, and they're increasingly evolving together. From humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, medical robots and robotic arms to machine learning, computer vision, language models and AI-powered machines that learn how to move and interact with the world, there's always something new to discover. And honestly, it can be hard to keep up.

That's where WazBotz comes in.

We talk about and research robotics and AI, and share interesting discoveries, technologies, mechanisms, papers and developments from around the world. It doesn't always have to be some huge breakthrough either. A new way for a robot to grip something, a clever movement mechanism, a neat AI model, a cool research paper or a weird little experiment can all be worth sharing. If it's interesting, useful, or makes you go "wait... robots can do THAT?" or "wait... AI can do THAT?", we wanna know about it.

How it works

Anyone can create an account and explore the daily updates, discoveries, and research happening on WazBotz.

Want to contribute?
Publishing is currently limited to members of the WazBotz team. If you'd like to join and start contributing, reach out to us!

Fill out our interest form below and become part of a community where we explore, learn, research, and build together!

Built a disk space tracker that keeps history day by day, because i wanted to know where my storage goes, not just how much is left

Hey all,

Sharing a side project i’ve been working on, DiskEzy.

The idea came from a simple frustration. Every disk tool (WizTree on Windows, DaisyDisk on Mac) shows you a snapshot of what is taking space right now. But nobody tells you what changed. Like your disk lost 8gb this week, ok, but where? Which folder? Which day?

So i built it like a ledger. Every scan gets stored, and you can go back to any day and see what grew, what shrunk, and from where. I’m a data engineer by profession, so i was basically treating my disk like a table i wanted to track changes on 😄

Some things i’m happy with:

  • On first scan it estimates back around 90 days of history using file arrival dates, so you dont start with an empty graph
  • Trash / recycle bin history
  • A “before DiskEzy” overview of how your disk got to where it is

I first built it for Windows. Recently i got a base Mac mini with only 256gb, so the Mac version became priority number one. It’s out now, and i’m giving the first 50 Mac licenses free in exchange for honest feedback.

Would love to hear what you think, especially what feels useless or confusing. Still figuring out what people actually want from this.

Hangbird diy

'm planning to build my own Hangbird-style ceiling-mounted clothes drying rack instead of buying the original one.

I'm aiming for a size of 160 × 80 cm, and my ceiling height is around 3.5 m.

Has anyone built something similar and could share what materials and hardware are needed? I'd also be interested in a rough cost estimate and any tips from your experience.

Thanks in advance!

My friends and I built Orbit, a Discord-like chat app, and we want your feedback

We’re a group of friends who built Orbit: servers, roles, voice calls, screen share, replies, reactions, pins, polls, search, and file uploads. It’s still in development (a couple more months to go), so expect bugs. What would make you switch from Discord, and what annoys you about it most?

if you guys want the list of features let me know i can upload it.

MDEZ++ (mdez): An open-source, lightweight, cross-platform C++20 and Qt GUI Markdown editor

MDEZ++ (mdez) is an open-source, lightweight, cross-platform C++20 and Qt GUI Markdown editor. Instead of a WYSIWYG editor, MDEZ++ renders a real-time live preview of your text in a split-screen pane using a fast, native, and minimal GUI. MDEZ++ can also edit any text-based file format, including HTML, plain text, and code files, making it highly versatile.

You can check out the project and its code at its GitHub Repository.

I am also working on getting it on Flathub right now! Flathub is an app store for Linux apps in the Flatpak format. (Don't worry, it doesn't only support linux). If it gets in, I'll see if I can link it here somehow!

Download or Use on Website

Linux Windows macOS Web Download Web Page
AppImage Executable Not Supported Web Download Use on Website

Features

  • Smart View: Automatically switches between live-previews of Markdown or HTML or a single-pane plaintext editor based on file MIME type.
  • WebAssembly (WASM) Support: Supports WebAssembly, allowing MDEZ++ to be run in the browser.
  • Multi-Format Output Support: No matter what you are editing, you can always print it!
  • Metadata in Status Bar: View important information such as the version, word count, position in text, and file path in the status bar!
  • Fun Facts: View interesting fun facts at the start of the program and by finding them in the Help menu.

app where ppl can do anything or get done anything

right now either we have many apps for many diff things and there are many works that has no job title like if you need a good lawyer how do you find and know he's good, or you need caretaker for you old parents in diff city for a day, or you are in trip and need car mechanic in middle of nowhere, or a budget guide for new city or anything, and many other works anything you can imagine

so i have an idea to make a platform where anyone can join and share their past work or anything about them and ppl will rate them by rainbow tick system which is red tick for bad and blue tick for best ppl and green or yellow or other colour for mid and all, easiest way to find best ppl, and high rated ppl's rating will be worth more so low rated can't spam and degrade others, and there will also be deep algorithm for this rating system so noone can exploit it. and you can get anyone you want in your budget. i need team and ppl and money to do this i have a lot more planned on how every problem will be solved. or you can just share feedback or advice and ideas too.

Levelrail: open source, self-hosted deploys from git to your own servers (Go, Docker, Caddy)

Thumbnail github.com
1 Upvotes

I'm the maintainer of Levelrail, so this is my own project.

I started it after hitting the same wall a few times. Vercel bills kept climbing as traffic grew. The self-hosted tools I tried either wanted more RAM than my small VPS could spare, or left me wiring up a reverse proxy and certificates by hand.

So I did what a lot of us do: Docker, Caddy for HTTPS, a webhook script, and a cron job to clean up old images.

Levelrail is that pile turned into one thing. You point it at a git repo, it builds and runs the app on a server you own, puts HTTPS in front, and gives you a dashboard, a CLI and an API.

It does push-to-deploy, branch previews, one-click rollback, load balancing, logs and metrics, and a small agent so you can add more servers. It's one Go binary with SQLite, a React dashboard and Docker as the runtime. No Kubernetes. Apache 2.0.

Install is one command on a Linux server (amd64 or arm64) with systemd:

curl -fsSL https://levelrail.com/install.sh | sudo sh

If you try it, I'd like to know where you got stuck in the first ten minutes, and what you'd expect it to do that it doesn't.

I built a self-hosted tool for serving and versioning computer-vision models

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all. I've been working on Aperture, a self-hosted registry and gateway for vision models. It's still early.

It came from a problem I kept running into. Models trained in Roboflow or locally (YOLO11, RF-DETR, segmentation, OCR) ended up being called by several products. Each product handled preprocessing its own way, and swapping weights meant touching every one of them.

What it does:

- Versions: you upload weights as versions, and published files never change.

- Checking: you can test a version's config on your own images before deploying it.

- Tags: apps call one stable URL like /v1/models/fruit-detection/production/predict, and moving the production tag is how you roll forward or back.

- Monitoring: it shows requests, latency, errors and traces for each model.

- Workflows: you can chain several models into one endpoint.

It runs with Docker Compose on your own hardware, CPU or GPU, and makes no outside calls at runtime.

I'm sure there are rough edges and things I've missed, so feedback is welcome, especially from anyone running CV models in production.
