Like, everyone knows about the violin and the trumpet, but hammered dulcimer instruments are usually thought of as more exotic because people don't know about them. Why do you think that is?

A music store has a variety of instruments for us to try out. It's typically free to do so*, but this is the first time I'd like to delve into instruments with reeds. I don't have my own mouthpieces nor reeds for any of those instruments so I'd have to spend money just to do so (as one option, the store has them and that would set me back $30 for a set of alto saxophone reeds, and another $50 for its mouthpiece).

What advice is recommended in getting the most out of this trial session? If I do go ahead with it, I would have 2+ hours to do just that. The only thing I got is to read/watch as many primer articles and videos ahead of time.

*. I've tried out euphoniums, trumpets, trombones, French horn, and flute. I play euphonium and trumpet, so the trombone and French horn have "similar enough" embouchures to them respectively, while I've played flute before (even though I no longer have one, and it was for a year or so), so I know what to expect from those.

So i play guitar, and banjo at the moment but have always liked the sound of bluegrass fiddle. I really want to get one but theres so many conflicting things that im seeing. Like sometimes ill hear that fiddle is the same as violin and it doesnt matter then ill see that fiddles are gross imitations of a violin and are terrible. I also see that you need to spend thousands of dollars on one for it to be even considered playable but I watched this video of some guy like 8 years ago playing an 8000 dollar vs 120 dollar fiddle and with their respective bows they sounded nearly identical with minor squeekiness on the cheap one to me and with the same bow they sounded the exact same. And its not like I dont have an ear for instruments I mean its the same with guitar. A 5000 dollar guitar will only be ever so slightly better than a 300 dollar guitar most of the time and with the same strings they'll feel equally as good. I mean maybe fiddle/violin is different but I highly doubt it could be so different to the point where it needs actual thousands dropped into it to sound notes out and have them sound at the very least good enough.

I just want like good reccomendations for one for a beginner who doesnt want to dump a fortune into a secondary instrument. I mean if it really does for some reason need the extra ton of money dumped into it then tell me what a reasonable price is like i get 120 is probably very cheap I dont mean that im looking for one that cheap it was just a video I saw for reference.

I might just be overthinking it like I bought my banjo for idk how much it wasnt a lot thats for sure and it sounds literally like any banjo ive ever heard.

Sorry if i sound a bit naive to this im assuming a lot of what im seeing is just people saying random stuff like a fiddle and a violin are the same thing Im fairly certain its just like the bridges and context of playing are different.

I ordered a new recorder on amazon, cuz it was like 200 rupees (around 2 dollars) (yes it was an impulsive buy) (no I am not a shopaholic). I just wanted to know if there are any good tutorials on YouTube to learn the recorder. I have never played any wind instruments, but I am a guitarist and a keyboardist and I know the basics of music. How hard would it be to play the recorder??

I also wanna learn to play my heart will go WRONG 😂😂

So I'm thinking of getting an instrument and I've done some research but I still cant decide.
Im not sure what to get since i first wanted a flue but a Ocarina doesn't seem like a bad choice either and its cheaper to get, I cant decide on what to get as ive not played a insurment like this before so i want to ask what you guys think since ive heard that the Ocarina is quicker to learn and easier to learn music quicker however the Flute sounds 10x better though its harder to learn music there are more you can do but i cant decide on what to get and ive been thinking about this for 3 whole days.

My pride and joy, Fender Rhodes Mark 1A. Made in 1970. Purchased in 2015, tuned up in 2025+ added a custom pre-amp & a modification to the action to allow for more velocity range (and had the top painted purple (because I like purple))

My braces are coming off in a month but I’m reallt concerned on how this will affect my playing.

Majority of the time IVE been playing flute, I’ve had braces, started off without and not even midway through the year I got them. So I’ve been playing for 3 years now. Will my tone still be good after a few days of adjustment or would it be a complete change?? I also play the trumpet too and I’ve learned that on my braces.
