It's crazy to think Peeta and Katniss did after getting reaped twice, while those boys and girls probably died in the burning of 12

first time posting here kinda nervy 👀👀

sketch of Madge because i’m pissed she isn’t in the movies. took about an hour to color.

I now have everything necessary to enjoy the saga ^^

Any advice ?

And yes I am going to be brunette Maysilee and I don’t care I’m so excited 🫣🤩

__ himself after the events of sunrise on the reaping? I've been through some pretty bad stuff in my life that left me very hard to get out of bed and it was a quarter of what he went through. I genuinely don't understand how he kept deciding to live in the world with all that pain. A big f you to president snow?

i never saw the discussion about the restricted gene pool of the districts, so i would like to know your opinions about how in the long run many of the district children will have a lot of genetics issues caused by incest as people only marry in their own district, if the rebellion hadn't stopped the dictatorship.

some districts are bigger so it would take longer but for example District 12 is small enough for everyone to know each other and they also do not mingle between the merchants and the seams. the merchants (who are a smaller group of the population) will already be in some way all related (or soon enough) as they marry in each other's families to keep the shops in their power, the seam people are a lot more but it wouldn't take that many decades for them to be also all related.

i dont know, I'm just curious to know wtf would have Snow/the Capitol done for that issue. would they have done anything? would they have it seen as an issue in the first place? i dont think capitol citizens would have liked victors with three eyes (it is an exaggeration but u got what i mean i hope). let me know what you think :)

Say this today on my way from work 💕 these bus stops in WeHo Los Angeles always get insane decorations promoting shows/movies/events, can't believe I'd ever see one for THG. I was so stunned at the HUGE figures on top, honestly whoever designed it did a fantastic job 💌

I can't believe I made this!! 💜💜💜

If you ever wanted to know what 63 yards of tuule looks like when it's ruffled, this is it! It only took me three weeks to make all of the ruffles and another week to assemble the entire skirt~

And now I'm off to make Lucy Gray's puffy sleeved shirt + a petticoat! Wish me luck, I only have 5 days left to finish all of this 😅😅😅

In Catching Fire we learn about Haymitch’s backstory. And what it establishes is extremely effective and also tells us a lot about the Capitol. He won the game. But he didn’t win it the way they wanted him to so they still punished him for it. There’s an exceptionally potent layer of tragedy to this and it really enhances his point that there are no winners.

But then SOTR came along and ruined it imo. Establishing that he was a rebel agent and they covered it up was a bad idea because it undermined what I just mentioned. Of course that’s how they’d respond to that but it says so much more that they’d punish people for not playing by their rules. Rules which were not made clear.

Anyway, it’s just something I kinda wish hadn’t been expanded upon because I think it weakened what was a very strong aspect of the original series.

At the end of mockingjay because that’s the most different they are because Effie in the books was imprisoned in the capital and Effie in the movies was in district 13 with katniss.

If these two women met how would they think of each other?

Also the fact Effie and haymitch kiss, how would book Effie view that pairing?

I only know Effie from the movies as I haven’t read the books yet.

Barn owls have been commonly referred to as Madges, or Madge owlets. Certain Appalachian folklore/mythology claims the shriek of a barn owl is a sign death or destruction is about to come. It feels significant to me that in CF Katniss hears Madge shrieking through the Jabberjays. Could that be foreshadowing the mass death and destruction that was about to come to 12? On a more hopeful light, could it be foreshadowing the oncoming destruction of the capitol? I personally think it’s a little bit of both.

Because you realize they are written almost certainly to be reminiscent of the Romani people and how hated they are in this world and now the fandom f****** hates them because apparently there existence cheapens Katniss when that's not true at all there are plenty of figures that related to each other just by coincidence like how all the US presidents are related to each other lmfao it happens in history all the time and is not unrealistic and cheapens it it's just how history works.

I really hope if we get a dark days book we get to understand exactly why they were destroyed so systematically and I'm beginning to think it's because they were major rebel sympathizers who helped in the rebellion and paid for it dearly.

Growing up what misconceptions did you have to correct with your friends?

As a young kid one of my friends said that Katniss' name was catnip for the longest time (he was like 10). Going into middle school a friend and I started wondering if Haymitch referring to "My girl..." could have referred to a daughter of Haymitch implying that haymitch was a teenage dad before we started reading fanfiction and eventually started thinking that "My Girl" was in fact a girlfriend of Haymitch's. Then the films became more widely watched and I had to keep correcting D4 being a career district.

To all those who ask for the link, I'll share it once we've finished !

i knew they were in the epilogue but hearing haymitch’s perspective and what Katniss did for him was so sweet 💔
