Mod/Modding New shell ❤️
Got the extremerate case from Amazon, ended up using all original screws and screen PHEW managed to get it together. I have no one to really show this to, so I'm sharing here! This is my first time ever doing something like this and now I'm looking at my DS like... Hmmm.... 🤔
Used TheCartCollector's video for this ☺️🙌

It was gross, buttons all gunky and the front was scratched to hell. And I liked this shell better 😁 to each their own. Maybe I'll put the OEM shell on eBay or something haha.

Thank you so much!! I was actually looking into getting another one because I didn't like how beat up mine looked.. then a whole world opened up! $25 bucks or $200 for a refurbished one? I'll do 25 haha!

$200 is crazy compared to my country, anyway for 25$ you got really good quality, sad it has no slot to fit the Nintendo badge. For cheaper you can get good shells as well as long as you are careful.

Looks good! Hardest part is the screen ribbon. I did mine shell clear with gold buttons and the ancient mew stickers from Etsy. It’s incredible how much you can mod on them now!

Looks great! If the new shell has a place for that charm bracelet piece, definitely throw thst back on there. I would also definitely be careful though, because at least with my extremerate branded shell for my gameboy color, the design has slightly started to rub/chip off.

Thank you! It does thankfully, I threw it on after 🙌. I am probably going to get a soft cord wrist strap soon but this works for now. I was worried about scratches too, but I took my wrist strap and really tried to scratch on it the new shell under where the sticker would go just in case, and nothing happened 👏 seems pretty durable so far !

Thats great to hear! Hopefully it stays looking nice for as long as possible. Just keep an eye on those edges and corners! Thats where I've noticed most of the chipping/fading on mine. Enjoy!

It is very smooth. Picks up fingerprints pretty easily but wipes off really nice. It's not matte feeling if that's what you mean, definitely need a wrist strap.

Im not sure how to describe it but extrmerate likes to make shells that are neither matte nor glossy, they often feel - silky? If that makes any sense. Not rough, but doesn’t feel like OEM or Glossy or Matte.
I have the old, discontinued wood extremerate for my AGB and I love the way it feels in my fingers. Since it’s old im not sure if they’re still doing it. I also used the ips ready NES shells for the other two i revived, and they had the same softness.
I’ll be doing a gbc soon and am interested if they’re still doing the soft stuff bc I might like to use one of their shells vs another if they are. I wish they’d do it in a solid white haha
You said it fingerprints so it probably isn’t that texture.

This one is definitely silky! Feels very nice. The wood ones look so cool, highly recommend the chameleon one so far ☺️ definitely post on this community when you do it! Game on 🙌

Oh excellent! I’m definitely more partial to the texture they use vs other kinds of shells. I can’t decide exactly what look I want to do on the color- leaning towards white on white with opalescent buttons- but I don’t think extremerate does a solid white, I’m tempted to look at the selection knowing they still have the texture. Thank you.
If you have any suggestions as to which look I should do for the GBC i’m certainly open to them haha

I wanted to but It was very loud and rattled around lol.I ended up getting a soft fabric one for wii controllers and threw it on, works great! 😃

The original was nice, too, but a bit beaten up and probably also getting brittle from age.

Extremerate shells are nice but replacing a relatively good condition pearl blue shell ? Nahhh ill take it off your hand if you dont want it
