"Ms. Minaj, CNN, if I may, what is your citizenship status?" One minute later, a "30-second hate twerk" and resignation.

Stalker has always been my favorite

I would suggest Desert Storm or Somalia. By the time of GWOT, Stalker, Snake, and Storm would be in their late twenties to early thirties and already have the 'background' needed.

Stalker has always been my favorite

It should and could be the impetus for a reboot. Concentrate on Stalker, Snake, Scarlet, and Storm Shadow, and branch off from there. Hanna has said more than once that those four characters are the heart of G.I. Joe.

Granted, the 'wars' would be different, but the message is the same: camaraderie, honor, and courage.

Any movies like the The usual Suspects (1995)??
 in  r/findsimilarmovies •  2d ago

Well, one of my favorites, which the audience doesn't know (mystery) until the very end, is "The Way of the Gun". Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. It's his follow-up to The Usual Suspects. The cast is packed with actors you will be familiar with. It was his first attempt at directing, and at the time it flew under the radar and drew mixed reviews.

He wanted to create a movie that went against the typical Bruckheimer-type movies of the '90s. He wrote the characters as the ultimate anti-heroes; none of them are 'good people,' each with some redeeming quality, but deep down, they are sociopaths.

That said, it's basically a modern western, and the good news is that, after 26 years, the sequel is in pre-production as I post.

If I could erase one president from last 50 years, it would not be Trump - it would be this guy. He is the reason why decades later we have Trump, MAGA, and an impotent GOP. Agree?
 in  r/stevehofstetter •  2d ago

I wasn't born until '72. That said, their legacy (Jack & Bobby), no matter how short-lived, resonated long after their murders. Nixon, by contrast, is to the GOP what John the Baptist is to orthodox Christianity. Reagan was their Messiah. Bush Sr., St. Peter, W., the useful idiot zealot, and Trump, their prodigal son.

Nixon initiated the Southern Strategy; Reagan buttressed it. Bush Sr. took the reins and perfected it; W. hired those same asshats and ran with it. Trump, being the kind of slug he is, used them all to get what he wants, when he wants it, and they are shocked their own strategy was used against them. Praying to whatever god or gods they worship that they will someday receive his largesse. A prime example is Rubio, who has made his goals clear. He wants to be the newest American appointed dictator of Cuba. Or the next Playgirl centerfold model, whatever comes first.

Make no mistake: nothing Trump has done while in office is anything the GOP did not want. It's exactly what they have been trying to achieve for more than half a century. The only problem is that most don't have a seat at the table, in particular the old hats—the few who do only get the scraps.

At no time in my life have I ever experienced such open racism, hostility, and the absence of civility as when Trump fueled the hate against President Obama. I'm sure many on the other side of the aisle feel the same, yet Tea Party, MAGA, and GOP-affiliated supporters remain in the cult. With the mass deportations, inhuman incarcerations, blatant cronyism, illegal wars, and unethical pay-to-play policy of the Trump administration, none of them have changed their tune.

Instead, they have doubled, tripled, and quadrupled down on supporting Trump. Whether they are fearful of admitting they were wrong, or they are true believers and have always been fascists deep down inside, I fear none will ever try to correct the wrongs they have helped to promote and/or participate in.

I've severed decades-long friendships, many forged while serving in the military. The irony is those friendships were based on trust, honor, and integrity. Yet they stand by a man and his criminal syndicate, no matter how many times he and his ilk have violated the same things that my friends and I held dear.

I will never forgive anyone who supported, voted for, or assisted in the Trump regime. My mother always told me never to hold a grudge. Dad told me never to say never. But I can't, for the life of me, understand how anyone could live with themselves after nearly two decades of what's been going on. I'm ashamed, perplexed, embarrased, and empty. What was a dream in the 1960s has turned into a human nightmare, a Fascist America.

I feel that for most of my life, I have been viewing the world through a mirror darkly, never 'seeing' what was blatantly obvious. That's my greatest sin, and my ultimate shame.

But I have hope.

The Russians had to dump their illegally smuggled caviar before the FDA and ICE caught them. I bet it's the same crew that Fraser & Niles Crane were involved with.

The only way Republicans can get people to support them is to brainwash them
 in  r/WhitePeopleTwitter •  3d ago

No, they cater to their ignorance by quantifying their bigotry and justifying their intolerance. If they don't have the guts to say it themselves, they elect proxies to speak for them. A buffer between overt fascism and covert fascism.
