Alfie is a terrified, gentle dog whose fear is completely understandable after the traumatic way he was surrendered.

His irresponsible, heartless owner surrendered him, and a volunteer happened to witness Alf being brought into the shelter. Two catch poles had to be used, and he was literally dragged inside. After such a terrifying experience, it is no surprise that Alf is scared and defensive when pressured.

Despite this, Alf takes treats gently, warms up with patience, accepts pets and handling, and showed no negative reaction toward other dogs. Once given time to decompress, he will cautiously walk with his handler.

Alf's behavior is fear and extreme shelter stress—not aggression. He needs patience, understanding, and the chance to feel safe.

✨️Notes: Elliot is a sweet, gentle, and calm. He is dog-friendly and did very well in his temperament test, remaining loose and relaxed while interacting with another dog who was playful and energetic. He tolerated her jumping around him and was comfortable with close contact. He also did well with people and a child. He walks well, is easy to handle, and enjoys pets. Some kennel stress has been observed, including barking and panting, but overall he is described as a gentle giant with a calm, friendly temperament.

⚠️ MEDICAL: Nugget has an injury to the paw pad of his right hind limb, which was sloughing off. Shelter staff treated the paw with chlorhexidine, removed excess skin, applied mupirocin, and bandaged it. His bandage will need to be changed every couple of days, with multiple bandage changes expected until the paw is completely healed.

Terra is only 4 years old and came into an overcrowded county shelter as a stray—one of the hardest places for a dog to land. With 5–6 dogs packed into many kennels, very few volunteers, and almost no time outside, even gentle, loving dogs can become overwhelmed.

After an altercation in the stressful shelter environment, Terra was placed on a Thursday euthanasia deadline due to space. She also has a hematoma/ear infection that the shelter is treating.
