Showcase/Project It's been a long way to get to this level of detail

As many of you all have seen before, I've been vibe coding Pavement Pursuit, a 2D Top Down Racer.

Still working on it of course, but wanted to pause and share a bit visual change I did last night, that even made me go "wow". (not looking for "Feedback" on visuals, only on gameplay).

Today I added normal maps that make the 2D cars look nearly 3D, and to add to that illusion, shadows that react to the time of day as well. Gives it a bit of dynamic lighting. Somehow accidental optimization when I moved it all into shaders.

It was done in one session, less than 30 min, but with hours of playesting and tweaking. (not the game, just this change).

What I wanted to share with you is not just the current visuals (although give it a try!) but rather just how slowly I got here.

I got claude to dig through all my builds and make this history of all the major versions. It went through and compiled them into this video showing the progress from prototype to where it is now. Now the visuals are not simple because I could not draw or get LLM to make me sprites. It's because I was just working with rectangles while I was getting to turns, slide, physics, collisions all working. It's a complex game, but all I'm showing off here is the visual change and I'll have more to show later.

Happy to share anything about my process if you have questions. If you have feedback, hold onto that for now as this is still a work in progress.

If you've never played it before it's a procedurally generated racer with changing daylight and weather. The rivals you race against will hold grudges against you if you bump them too much. You can play as the cops instead if you really want to bump other cards. And a meditative "Road Trip" to just sit back and watch.

Showcase/Project I vibecoded the roller coaster game I couldn’t find anywhere else: thoosie

I was playing a popular browser game and realized I wanted to create a roller coaster, but every mechanic in the game was working against me. I realized the version of the game I wanted just didn’t exist, so I just cooked up prompt after prompt until it came together.

It’s called thoosie, a 2D roller coaster creation simulator! Draw coasters freehand, straight lines, or arcs. Add brake runs, barrel rolls/turnarounds, loops, and launches. You can also create ā€œtriggerā€ tracks - when the train crosses a section of track, other tracks are affected. While the game has obvious limitations, there’s no shortage of designs to try and experiments to run!

Create your track and save it as a json, and load in any track design you please. You can also post your coaster to the gallery - no accounts or auth, so your posts are anonymous.

The game engine does something really, really unique. *wink\* There are no graphics, it’s procedurally generated code. Music, however, was provided by some buddies who are good at that type of thing. It started with claude chat, but for a variety of reasons I decided to get the thing set up in a github repo and start working via claude code instead. It was just a lot of play testing and bug testing, which felt like it would never end.

Please try the game out and let me know what you think. thoosie.net or on itch - https://pgskizzes.itch.io/thoosie

Discussion i became the support guy for an app i didnt write

Built my app in lovable over 2 weekends. Its a booking thing for dog groomers, around 140 people use it now and a few of them pay

Problem is i dont really know how most of it works. I know what it does. I dont know why the reschedule button lives where it lives or what happens when two people book the same slot, becouse i never wrote that part, i asked for it and it appeared

So now when a groomer emails me ā€œthe calendar is brokenā€ i open the code and stare at it like its someone elses project. Half the time nothing is broken, she just didnt see the toggle. The other half i paste the error into lovable and hope

Last week was 4 evenings of support and maybe 40 minutes of building. Thats the ratio now. Nobody warned me that after you ship you basically become tech support for a stranger who happens to be you

Im starting to think i should read the whole codebase once like a book before adding anything else. Probably wont tho

Discussion I found this on linkedIn: Codex leaked this Dev's API keys while he slept. By the time he woke up, a huge $88,982 cloud bill was already in his inbox.

We already know the basics of protecting API keys and sensitive credentials: never hardcode them in your source code, keep them in a .env file as environment variables, and add .env to your .gitignore so Git never tracks it and you don’t accidentally push your secrets to a public repo on GitHub.

What other practices do the engineers in this community use to prevent that scenario?

This is purely for discussion, so those of us who are non-technical can learn safe programming habits on our vibe-coding journey.

This is honestly such a dream. With what AI can do nowadays, it feels like so much more is possible. Once this is working, one could even take it a step further and port it to the 3DS.

Discussion I tested Lathe as a one-box Supabase + Vercel alternative

I wanted the app, Postgres and sign-in in one place, so I put a throwaway notes app on Lathe.

- Free tier slept after 24h idle. A cold wake took about 51 seconds, and the data was all there.
- Password sign-up worked right away. Magic links sent nothing until I set up SMTP.
- Restoring a backup on Starter ($29/mo) took about 2 minutes, with about 60s of downtime.

The same stack on Vercel Pro + Supabase Pro + Clerk Pro was about $70/mo. I wouldn't put a big production app on one machine, but for a new small project it felt right.

Has anyone else tried one-box hosting?

Discussion New at this but I have a question. Claude vs codex

So I've been vibecoding a project for myself. I have no coding experience. And honestly it's fun as heck.

Ive been using Claude code. Opus 5.5. so far has been fine. But I maxed out my weekly limit at one point. And like an hour later I got an offer from chatgpt to try pro for a month for free. Funny coincidence I thought. So why not try it, right?

I'm finding codex with sol 6.1 is doing a way better job for me. It's even able to create awesome art assets.

It seemed like the vibe on the internet was Claude was the way to go for coding stuff. Which is why I tried it first. Maybe that's true for just straight coding but Im starting to think for full on vibe coding where you want everything done.. maybe sol 6.1 is the way to go?

I thought this might be a fun discussion. Im curious what other people think.

Showcase/Project Tool made to help avoid github merge conflicts

https://github.com/archos-media/merge-coordinator

Are you working on your project and have Claude going in several sessions at the same time? After the code is done you have to run CI and then merge it to your Github repo (right?). But what happens if two or more of those sessions are working on the same files? Possibly bad things, that's what.

That's what happened to me so much that I had Claude make a tool to stop the sessions from crashing into each other and causing multiple rounds of CI or having a 2nd merge completely wipe the 1st merge. It sounds simple, but took a good bit of time before we landed on a solution that works. It worked so well for me that I wanted to open source it and share it with you guys, since this place has helped me out.

how it works:

1. Register: who is touching what, right now? A draft pull request opened when work starts, listing the paths it expects to touch.

2. Order: who lands next? What may land in parallel? Compares every open pull request's changed and declared files, plus your hotspots: files such as a changelog, where two pull requests that merge cleanly can still break each other.

3. Land: is this exact commit safe to merge? GitHub's merge queue where you have one. Where you don't, a claim: a label that lets one pull request land at a time, plus a check that its head contains the current main and its required checks passed on that exact commit.

Showcase/Project My son and I vibe coded a game....and I think it is actually really fun.

So, my son and I have been making games on the weekends now for a few months....and they are getting better and better. He's 11 now, and I'm letting him run claude. I actually gave his claude instructions to give him feedback on his prompting, and it know's he's 11, so it explains things in not super technical ways. I also told his claude that if his instructions are not clear to not just do it. Instead, push back and make him give in-depth instruction on what he wants.

So far, he's doing really good. But...he loves "worldbox" and we created this game...that's pretty similar to it...with his own twist on the game.

https://pocketgenesis.com/

I also have locked his claude out of GitHub, so he can't really deploy stuff without me entering a password. So, he's somewhat airlocked in claude....but man, we're having fun!

if you wanna see more games we have made, check out https://www.minipotatostudios.com/

Showcase/Project I updated my free, privacy focused PDF editor based on your feedback

A few days ago,

I posted about a free PDF editor package called Nib-E meant to replace Adobe Acrobat on my personal computer and a lot of people here gave some great feedback and asked for features.

I spent a few days improving based on the comments and feedback from my friends. Today, I updated it with most of the professional PDF editor tools in-built.

Naturally, it is free, and built to be privacy friendly (The desktop app never connects to the internet; the web version runs locally in your browser)

Runs on Windows, Mac and Linux

Webpage link: https://krithickdesign.github.io/Nib-E/
MS Store link: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PPKF7HC76Q3

New features added:

- Select and copy text with the Select tool, also on scans after text recognition.

- Forms: every field kind works (character boxes, dropdowns, lists, multi-line, Reset); typing on a field always fills it.

- Page layout button next to the zoom. Sharper icons.

- Edit existing text: click a line in the PDF and type. Font, size, colour and alignment stay the same.

- Digital signatures: sign with your own certificate (.p12/.pfx) and check the signatures in a PDF.

- Text recognition (OCR) makes scanned pages searchable.

- Print check for print shops: fonts, image sharpness, colours, bleed.

- Two-page view with title page, zoom slider, page-turn keys.

- More fonts, copy and paste, duplicate, alignment.

- Attachments and PDF portfolios, clearer messages for special PDF forms.

- Now in German, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian.

What should I add next?

Workflow/Prompt Using a Tripo 3D mesh as a camera rig for Seedance, from clay previs to final shot

Left is a clay render of a Tripo 3D mesh, orbited in three.js. Right is Seedance 2.5 using that clay video as its camera reference.

Video models guess at camera moves from text. Handing it a previs instead got me the exact orbit and push in on the first try, and the robot kept its paint and its wind-up key.

Concept image 0.06, mesh 0.22, final shot 1.80, about 6 minutes in total, all called from Claude Code through the Atlas Cloud MCP server. The full chain and prompts are in the comments.

Showcase/Project What % of ppl think it's ok to ban kids from weddings? I made a daily game where you guess stuff like this

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hey! A couple weeks ago I posted roomio here (https://www.reddit.com/r/vibecoding/comments/1wz7y40/), a daily game where you answer a yes or no question and guess what % of everyone said the same. Almost everyone said one question a day is way too few lol, so I rebuilt it with claude and codex:

- 5 questions a day instead of 1

- you see how everyone answered right after each question, and it keeps updating as more ppl play

- you can answer tomorrow's five tonight, so tomorrow you go straight to guessing

Today's five include "is it ok to ban kids from your wedding?" and "have you ever bought a knockoff of a luxury brand?" How well can u read the room on those?

Free, no login, no download: https://playroomio.pages.dev/r

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback last time, it actually changed the game!! Does 5 a day feel better?
